TT-RS Brake Kit Fits S3?

How much is the whole TT-RS conversion?

Hi there people.

I have that setup in my A3 8P 2.0 TDI. The setup is excelent. I have rear S3 brake system. Is there any kit apllyable to the A3 with better braking power for the rear?
I've seen a user that got 355mm on the rear but with what calipers?!

Why would you want any more than the S3 brakes that you have on the rear of your car now?

I had the TTRS set up on my S3 and thought it was a great improvment over standard, with great feel and bite to the brakes.

In all honestly on a road car the rear brakes main job is to help keep the back end in a straight line whilst the fronts do about 70-75 % of the work I would say the combination of TTRS fronts and S3 rears is pretty much the perfect brake set up for a road going A3/S3 or even the odd track day car will benifit from this set up.

You'd need to be very careful with this sort of thing.

As has already been said,by massively increasing the size of the rear setup,you'll be shifting the brake balance quite markedly,and this in turn will influence the handling under heavy braking.

As an example,I'm going to be changing the front setup on my S3 shortly,and was advised against fiddling with the rears for exactly that reason,and the same advice(from different engineers) was had for the braking setup on the GpN Escort Cosworth I used to have.

You may not notice it under normal braking situations,but when you have the ends of the car trying to fight each other under heavy braking.....

Just one more thought on this micasb
Have you thought about getting the upgraded Haldex controler as in sport mode it keeps the 4 wheel drive system active so you will have 4 wheel engine braking whilst you apply the brakes instead of front wheel only?
This may give you the extra braking you want but will keep the correct brake ratio's front to rear so extra braking power but still nice and safe with no rear wheel lock ups!

I have a 355mm 2 peace floating discs on the rear on the standard S3 rear callipers and its just perfect, fits just right...

What do you have on the front brakes mrgicm? Your combination of brakes may be a perfect match for what is fitted on your car which keep the ratio front to rear about right.

We are just trying to advise micasb that if he get's the ratio wrong, as soon as he brakes for real he will lock up the back and probably head off the road!

I still think the combination that he has is very good for the power of a modified S3 with out going to much more effort. Unless he goes for the Porsche set up as you have on the front of your car and then he can go for extra braking force on the rear.

Strangly enough that is a similar set up to my car which I can say works very well no mater what silly speed I approch corners.

I don't have an S3... LOL I have a FWD 2.0 TDI with TT-RS front brake system and S3 rear brake system.
What i was asking is what discs an pads did you use for that 355mm setup in the rear end mrgicm?
Do you guys think i'll have a unballanced braking if i go 355mm on the rear?
Do they fit the rear S3 calipers?

About 300 bhp... But i like to feel a real safe car... :p
Sometimes i feel the rear a little "float" as mrgicm said...
I think with those 355mm he has i could have the perfect breaking power along with the front system...

Just to add to this thread as I'm sure some will be interested, I was when I was looking. The TT-RS setup also sits very nicely behind pre-facelift S3 alloys with a 12mm spacer...

 
Are any spacers needed for the facelift 18" S3 alloys?

Would spacers be needed with 19" genuine Audi Rotors?
 
Dt_racing Thanks very much for testing this! I was always put of this kit because of reports they did not fit under that wheel. I'm now trying to source OEM Discs for cheap and going ahead with this.

yes they are needed. you could be fine with 10mm spacers but i've gone for 12mm spacers.
don't know for rotors. there's a thread with wheel fitment and ttrs brakes....

If you manage to find some OEM discs cheaper than the stealers let me know... been looking myself with no luck.
