Am looking to change thealloys on my A3, i like the new S3 alloys and noticed that wheelworx have the "Audi 709 style alloy", i have only seen the S3 alloys in pictures and not up close so am sure how good a likeness these replicas are?

I've seen them up close, apart from minor detail around the center cap, theres no reason to tell them apart.

I,ve bought them in 19" for my new car!

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but just been looking at these wheels on the wheelworx website. Does anyone know What is the minor detail that Lee talks of, and will these wheels fit genuine centre caps? Anyone know what the finish is like?

Hi,

I'd be interested to know of quality suppliers of replica wheels. I'd like 19" versions of pre-facelift S3 wheels.

I've been chatting with a guy (RSPaul) on VAGOC, who bought some 19" S3 pre-facelift wheels from Monty's. But the quality was not good - made in china, and cracked one of them going over a pot hole. Also the added weight of the wheels did not help handling or acceleration.

So, anyone know of good replica wheel suppliers? (Unfortunately, I can't afford top quality wheels such as BBS :( )

Cheers

AL

Have they got a slight bevel on the rim, or is that the light?

They dont look too far different to be honest, here's a pic of mine..

Are yours real or replica?

Edit: Just seen yours is a 2010 car, so guess they are the real McCoy!!

When you compare them side by side like that you can see the difference actually! I think, although I could be wrong, that Audi do a similar wheel in 19" for the S4 or maybe another car, those reps remind me of those

Replica / copy wheels should be banned.
They are all a parcel of SH*T.
They all use inferior alloy/ mix that weighs a tonne. They explode with any sort of contact with a kirb, & suppliers always fit SH*T tyres.
Do yourselves all a favour, buy proper rims from a leading manufacturer & fit a proper good quality tyre.
You will notice the difference.
SH*T tyres & proper tyres are the only thing between you & an accident.
How much do you value your life?
Pay the money for some proper BBS or similar.

I've not had any personal experience with poor replica alloys but have heard lots of horror stories, I totally agree with the cheap tyre issue though, I can't believe how many people skimp on tyres especially on expensive cars, false economy IMO.

A decent set of tyres will cost you a minimum £400. It the package is under £1000 your buying very poor quality with the accompanying safety risks.

There must be some decent replica wheels out there surely?

I guess its finding the right supplier and the rumoured "italian" made/supplied wheels.

AL - the VMR range of wheels are portrayed as a very good quality replica wheel. I've no personal experience of this only going off posts on the net and a few people who I've spoken to at meets.

I almost went this way myself but bought the BBS rims instead when they came up.

However the VMR rims arent cheap and your close to BBS money anyway - which doesnt help you if your on a budget.

Hi Paul,

Yes, VMR and Hartmann seem to be the ones that come up as "quality" when searching the net.

Really wanted to keep the OEM look, and yes, on a budget too these days, being a Dad now etc. :)

I see you've not held back with your mods! :)

PS: For BBS alloys, who would you recommend?

Cheers

AL
