I suppose it gives you a bit of a siege mentality when your neighbours declared intent is to destroy you?

Israelis and Palestinians have been fighting for the last 2000 years and they will continue fighting for the next 2000 years given half a chance, both as bad as each other!
 
There is a long history of smuggling arms inside aid ships. The soldiers boarded the ship and got attacked, why shouldn't they fight back?
Another aid ship is due there around Thursday, what do you reckon? Same thing happens?

Don't know and don't care. The Israelis and Palestinians have been at each others throats since god was a teenager, and they will still be at it at the end of time. They are never going to resolve their differences and millions more from each side will die in the process.

Looking at the video (I know it was Israeli video, but it's all we got) I can see various people whacking soldiers with sticks/iron bars - if you were faced with soldiers with firearms would you attack them with such things? - I think not, if you did you would expect someone to react!
 
most probably Israel staged it.
 
If I was in charge of the aid ship I would make sure I had a UN envoy on board and allow the soldiers to check the cargo.
 
If the war and blockade described by the UN as a "collective punishment" in the wake of the Israeli invasion, and have also likened it to a "medieval siege", and isn't considered legitimate according to many UN nations. Why is the boarding of a ship that wants to break a blockade accepted? I understand maritime law on the issue of boarding in the high seas, but its seems strange. Israel interpretation is only valid if the blockade and war was also valid.

Perhaps the Turkish Parliament should act on its threat to send a war ship with the next shipment. Turkey with the 2nd largest Nato force apart from the US and the permanent 5 UN nations losing clout on the world stage with the growth of India, Turkey, Brazil, and China carefully choosing sides. It may get interesting...
 
well when every muslim country wants every jew dead and the rest probably hate them and most arms come in by boat then what can you expect , probably silly jihadists on the boats to , sometimes i think these operations are marytre operation's sorry if that's spelt wrong , just cos of the good it does to the muslim cause it wouldnt suprize me if it was i bet they send a 2 boats a year now after this success ..
 
@10 Blazin: That has got to be the most ridiculous thing i have read on the subject, and there are some pretty stupid fking things written about the subject.

To strengthen their case the Israelis have released a photo of the weapons they found on board, (which amount to some knives and tools and wooden sticks) that the naive might think you'd expect to find on any ship, but the more astute will recognise them as exactly what you'd carry if you were planning to defeat the Israeli army. It's an armoury smaller than you'd find in the average toolshed in a garden in Cirencester, which goes to show the Israelis had better destroy Cirencester quickly as an essential act of self-defence.
 
they dont need weopons for a maytr operation you tool they go there with a boat load of men knowing there gona get stormed and killed the headlines will be great lots of innocent killed hence the term maytr ..

just like when they put children with the terrorist or freedom fighters in palestine theres an airstrike and then there held up in front on the camera dead there just used as maytrs this is the insanity of it.... and it helps the cause considerably .. After all everyone hates the jews , not me personally but nearly everyone ... and this just strenthens there case , im with isreal on this they shouldnt of been there ..they should of sank it ..

I don't hate Jewish people, I disagree with the actions of the state, if you can't see the difference then its probably best to stop the discussion.
