My dad has just bought a 52 plate Quattro Sport TDi, everything is great but the alarm keeps going off, the pictogram on the dash shows the drivers door is open but it isn't. What is inside the door that tells the alarm whether it's open or closed?
It moves easy enough with a screw driver, I can see the linkage moving when I operate the paddles on the outside. No matter how hard I shut the boot it won't latch but moves perfectly freely otherwise.
It certainly doesn't seem to be, I spent an hour in the boot yesterday, I've undone every hex bolt I can see but as you say, the plastic trim panels are still being held in place by things that you can't see until the boot it open. I'm at a loss, it looks like a big garage bill to get it sorted.
I can't get the boot open on my 97 A3, it opened fine yesterday and I've never had a problem, I can here the lock opening and closing but it won't release.
