I fixed one of these motors yesterday.
It seems ( well in my case) the brush carriers are the main problem.
Gently pry open the brush carriers with a flat blade screwdriver then check brush tension onto commutator. There is a small spring behind the brush which which keeps the load on.
Nice one ESD.
It will be great once you got it setup with xcarlink or similar.
A word if warning, I left my ipad in car for a short while in today's sun. Temp outside was probably about 18 c, when I got back into car the ipad screen was incredibly hot.
I'm kind if glad I have not gone for...
I did originally try the big ipad but it was a bit too big really but still possible if you slant it at an angle across the console vertical sections.
Post up some pics so we can see how you got on.
The superglue is holding out great, the plan originally was to go over the joint with epoxy glue afterwards for added strength.
I later found this was not necessary.
As You can see I really scuffed up the rear of the case so the glue could take a good hold, I scuffed the metal radio tools too...
Shame you did not get a result, I'm sure you are going to persevere with this.
let us know if you get a fix. Other than discs / pads and maybe suspension bushes not sure what else to suggest :uhm:
Here is my simple very low tech bracket.
2 x radio key removal tools superglued to rear of cheap £2 ipad case.
If you notice I filed off the area of the radio key tool (where the cut out is) so radio would not disengage when moving bracket in and out.
The whole concept of the install is...
Yeah that is a bit expensive.
How about trying this then.
Disconnect any one of the 4 abs sensors, the Ecu will disable the abs function, ie, turn abs off.
Road test car and see if you're vibrating brake pedal stops. If it does then you can be 100% sure your issue is ABS related.
If...
Not the case SL4VE , I do have VCDS and this reported there were no fault codes at all. However I was sure this was an ABS issue so I opted to change 2 of the 4 sensors in the hope I would change the offending one. Lucky for me I did. No problems with pedal vibrating after that.
@Ben.W93.... I will take some more pics of bracket and upload them tomorrow.
@Rizzini7.... Apple maps and Google maps need 3G but if you download one of the many Free Navigation Apps then it will work just fine.
@ESD1711 The Xcarlink adapter works with all the sound, so yes you can watch...
If the brake pedal is vibrating then it could possibly be ABS related.
I've had this this exact problem on a Passat before, there were no fault codes on this Passat so I changed both front ABS sensors
giving me a 50 / 50 chance of getting it right.
I was lucky, problem fixed :yahoo:
As my Xcarlink system worked so well with my iPhone I thought I would make a simple ipad mini bracket.
Ipad works flawlessly, MFSW controls volume and music tracks.
Ipad mini has 3g so also have Internet where ever I go.
Can be removed in seconds so no thieving gits can get their hands on it...
Lol, did not even look at that method, I read factory wiring diagram prior to installation and thought the footwell area was easiest option, also no more than 10 mins. More than one way to skin a cat as they say ;-)
