Sometimes the filament in the bulb becomes detached causing an open circuit. Go over a bump etc. And the filament may have flicked back closing the circuit. Or it could be a loose connection. Change the bulb and see how it goes.

Sounds like an injector failure but you'll need a diagnostic scan to be certain.

Don't remove the wire, just either cut it and earth it or scotch another bit of wire to it and then earth it.
