Well VAG-DVI got back to me in double quick time but he states that he only does A6 lights so I guess it's a replacement(?)

This is the unit that I have. Just in case anyone has any other suggestions or it is not repairable.

Thanks for that. I'm swaying towards the Gateway 100 now with an iPhone4 on the active cradle mounted on one of the vents. As an aside would there be any issues if I use the TomTom satnav app on the iPhone at the same time as playing music through the Dension?

Right, I have got a Saris Bones and installed it. No problems, nice bit of kit. Just one question. I could put all the straps on around the A3 hatch without even opening it. What is stopping "someone" un-installing it when I'm parked up and out on the bike?
