3.0TDI CCWA - trying to understand EGTs

An update. After fitting the injectors the car felt better. Monday driving on the highway I got this bad boy: So EGT still a problem. The fuel rail pressure is not dropping and it is meeting requested values. Today I when back in my archive of VCDS logs to gain some perspective. The first...

3.0TDI CCWA - trying to understand EGTs

Agreed. I will consult him first. and ask around if he cannot. I believe the term used to best describe the CP4 pump is a "ticking time bomb", not if but when. Reviewing your thread your mentioned the belt on the CP3 was not tight enough and had to find the correct gear. Do you mind...

3.0TDI CCWA - trying to understand EGTs

I feared this might be the case. After the cost of injectors this sucks quite a bit. Thanks for the input Bobby. I did not have any dtc errors for low rail pressure. Might have caused the CP4 to work harder now that I think about it, but at 72mg/stroke it is not like it was at max looking at...

3.0TDI CCWA - trying to understand EGTs

A lot more thinking and doing happened. Speaking to some fellow 3.0tdi guys here, a 14 sec quarter seems more normal for our altitude (1750m) and fuel supply with a stage 1 file. I do however agree with @bobby singh in that the software can be better to keep the torque limiting factor happier...

3.0TDI CCWA - trying to understand EGTs

Thanks for the input. By no means do I want to fool the ECU to think it is seeing lower EGTs. The EGT factor correction is doing a good job. I just need to get the car not to rely on the EGT factor correction so often. If I read between the lines, it seems software tweaks are needed more than...

3.0TDI CCWA - trying to understand EGTs

DPF is out. I replaced the DPF with a 76mm downpipe. I have also disconnected the exhaust in the middle of the car. So back pressure should be minimal. I have not logged the Fuel pressure as yet. I will do that today. Interesting insight. I did not know what impact the Fuel pressure will have...

3.0TDI CCWA - trying to understand EGTs

I am seeking some insight towards understanding my car's health status. First off, the car: 2010 Audi A5 Coupe 3.0 TDI. CCWA and S-tronic. (135 000km on the clock) BMC air filter, 76mm Downpipe (rear boxes cleaned out), 550x230x65 Intercooler, ECU software and oil-to-air oil cooler. VCDS scan...

    who's fitted h&r springs to the A5 ?

Thanks bud. 255/35R19 tyres: Spacers 20mm Front and 25mm Rear no rubbing loaded or not. 255/40R19: Spacers 20mm Front and 25mm Rear Rubbing with and without extra load. I will be getting two 15mm spacers to run 15mm front and 20mm rear for this tyre size. The tyres rub on the sidewall...

    who's fitted h&r springs to the A5 ?

Bobby makes some good points. The lower you go the stiffer the suspension will get. Unless you go coil-overs or air-suspension. Uncomfortable is relative, so you will have to make a judgement call on what is acceptable to you vs how low you want to go. In Bobby's case there is a ~10mm...

    who's fitted h&r springs to the A5 ?

No, I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. Roads aren't that great here. I am currently running 255/40R19 tyres. Here is a photo: (this is with spacers though). It lifts the car up just enough to clear bumps

    who's fitted h&r springs to the A5 ?

The H&R springs are progressive. So normal road driving is slightly stiffer than the OEM sport springs. You almost don't notice it. Normal = good smooth roads that don't cause the springs to compress too much so only the soft portion is being used. But remember the lowering springs have less...

    who's fitted h&r springs to the A5 ?

Thanks Perhaps, but the kit is meant for heavy axles. The difference is small enough not to bother me too much. Maybe check on Audizine for more examples to verify the same case for the 2 litres.

    Wheel spacer

Depends on the rim + tyre combo you are running. I have the 20/25 mm spacers. With the stock 19", 9J ET33 rims with 255/35R19 tyres I had no rubbing. I changed to 255/40R19 tyres, now I have slight rubbing over big dips/swells in the road. So I will need to go for 15/20 spacers

    who's fitted h&r springs to the A5 ?

Before: The car has 1BE sport suspension, 19inch rims with 255/35R19 tyres. Spacers After: H&R 29059-2 Sport springs. rated for 1100 kg plus axles (my car is the 3.0TDI). Supposedly 1.25 inch Front and 1.2 inch Rear Alignment indicated that the front camber is -2.20 degrees and needs to...

    B8 A5 3.0TDI torque limiting before shifts

Okay so problem fixed. I ended up going to a different tuner. He found parts of the ECU file missing, like the whole DTC table was deleted. So he flashed a stock file and built it up from there. We never had to touch the TCU. Now with my school fees paid, I can better enjoy the car.
