    Major Brake Failure Today..

I'm not too sure to be honest mate. It was at the top of the caliper, thats all i could tell you.

    Major Brake Failure Today..

Don't blame you mate, it was corrosion on the brake banjo that caused mine to fail, worth getting them looked at too, a brief inspection won't hurt eh :)

    Major Brake Failure Today..

Driving along to work this morning at around 40mph, came to my turning put my foot on the brake, nothing happened, pedal went straight to the floor, apart from a tiny bit of resistance at the bottom 10mm. The car just went straight on, I pulled on the handbrake and came to a stop eventually. By...

Is this an unusual place for corrosion bubbles?

They really are very tiny areas, the paint hasnt broken, i'm just reluctant to poke around and break the surface. I would have never have noticed it had I not got down to clean some wax off in the area. These things can spread though, which is why I want to get it sorted. There is no sign of...

Is this an unusual place for corrosion bubbles?

I read through all the sticky posts, good to know what to look out for. I know theres no hope of getting mine done through the warranty so i'm not even going to waste my time. My car is the 1998 S Plate. The area's are small so i'm taking it to a local bodyshop to get them to sort it out for me...

Is this an unusual place for corrosion bubbles?

I noticed that just in front of my rear arches on both sides, 6 inches above the sills are 2 very very small areas (5p piece sized) where the paint is bubbling indicating some rust underneath. I've heard people's corrosion stories but not in that place. I'm getting it fixed at the bodyshop...

    aircon not working

My aircon on my 1.8t has gone tits up too. Its fully gassed up, and the compressor is running, fuses all fine etc. yet it just doesnt blow cold air. It doesnt make any funny noises and you can hear the engine go on load when the compressor starts up. I just have no idea what it could be....

    ABS Rear Sensor Drama.

The sensors are £13.95 each, this i've enquired about. I'm worried the garage will tell me theres no hope getting the sensor bolts out (or at least one side, the one that has sheared flush with the sensor) I dont want them to tell me I need new rear calipers. So, after the weekend, i'm taking...

    ABS Rear Sensor Drama.

Had my ABS light on, just the orange one to start with, intermittant too at first, then on permanent. After 3 months of that on, now got the whole red warning circle on the display too. Took the two front wheels off and cleaned the sensors, lovely, tried ignition, warning still up. Took the...

    A3 1.8T misfiring...

Any idea of the part number? Going to give Murrays Direct a call.

    A3 1.8T misfiring...

I had just looked at that actually. Again though, If its intermittant it might not show up a fault anyway though, this is why I hate intermittant faults. I'm a electrical engineer by trade and intermittant faults are a real scurge

    A3 1.8T misfiring...

I had a look and i've got the ignition amp on the airbox, at the top and to the rear held on by 2 hex head bolts. I'll look at getting another and replacing it and i'll keep you posted. The only thing i'm worried about is the fact that the fault is so intermittant, I would have thought that if...

    A3 1.8T misfiring...

Well, its not done it again for a few days now apart from a 3 second spell of misfire when cold the other morning. I looked at coil packs on GSF and they were showing up at up to 40 odd quid depending on my engine code which I havent found out yet, this seems to be a good starting point (from...

    A3 1.8T misfiring...

A couple of occassions now i've noticed my car only firing on 3 cylinders, usually not for more than a couple of seconds every couple of weeks maybe. I just started her up today (first time since last friday) and she was horribly misfiring along the motorway with the engine both cold and warm...
