Thanks for the info guys, had a AC specialist look at it and he recons it could be my belt tensioner or idler roller so thinking i might change them first and see what happens.

Hi, i have a 1.9tdi quattro sport 54 plate and the ac is making some clunky noises!! i have searched here and found it could be the pulley thats needing replaced but cant seem to get one easy. where can i buy one and is there different ones you can get? I can get one through ebay from garmany...
