Print a copy of this thread, take it to the dealer and also complain directly to Audi of America. Mine has been fine since the rebuild.
If you read through the whole thread, you'll see that I was in the US whilst my car was in the garage and bumped into an audi dealership manager. He told me at...
At least the seat dealer wasn't aware of the problem. You might wanna give an idea of what the car looked like so nobody on here buys one that looks similar,
Biggest load of crap I've ever heard. Mines perfect now. 40mpg on mixed driving, and I have it boosting a lot. 1200 miles and no black/grey smoke and no oil consumption. As a test, stand behind the car and have some one floor it stood still. It will rev to 4000 and hold, before mind was done it...
To be honest, I think you'll lose more than 2grand trading a car that cost 15k 6 months ago. Have the rebuild keep the receipts and sell it before the two year engine warranty runs out. That way your car will be worth 2k more than one that hasn't had the job done! Simples
Yours sounds just like mine. Limped into audi with light on at around 450-500 miles on consumption test. Similar miles too so it should be plain sailing once you've got it sorted.
Just don't take any sh*t from them and you'll be fine! :haudrauf:
Mine had just the pistons and conrods replaced. Bores were inspected and OK. Car has only covered 55K. I suspect those with high mileage borderline bores may still see some oil consumption as reported by others with 100k plus on them.
Had a scare with the MMI the other day, parked on the street...
Thought I'd check in with another oil consumption report after the piston job.
1000 miles and zero oil consumption. Looks like the gallons of castrol edge I bought will only be used for oil changes!
Fuel consumption is now settling into mid to high 30s. I can probably get 40s, but i'm having...
That's not good. The master tech at Audi didn't bother with the first fix on mine. In fact the pistons were ordered before I'd finished the consumption test just based on what I'd told him.
The figures quoted by me above are based on 43mpg actual and current 29.6mpg on dis. To be fair I never...
Update following Oil Consumption Piston Job
500 miles and the bar is full! :arco:
Only problem is fuel consumption is up, but I assume this is because the engine is still tight.
Before piston job fuel and oil was costing me about 15p per mile
After piston job fuel and no oil is costing me about...
