Does anyone know if these can be removed and reused? Seem to remember reading something somewhere that they were not reusable. I know they're kept on with three screws inside the bumper, plus 3M tape. Anyone removed and refitted them and, if so, how easy is it to get them off? Audi A6 Avant SE 2007

Get your dealer to check if it has been set to fixed service instead of variable. Had this on my car and once changed it's doing about 14-15,000 miles (or a year in my case) between services.

I need to remove the inner A-pillar trims on my C6 2007 A6 Avant to remove the ventilation grille that runs along the front of the windscreen because it's creaking. I've looked on Elsawin and it says it's held by three clips and to prise it off using a special tool (can't remember which one...

I found a pic on Google, although it's not the correct model, and have ringed the area I'm talking about, but I can't see how to attach it to this reply, so if you PM me with your email address I'll send it. You might be able to spray without dismantling, or, if not, just undo the screws then...

Try spraying some silicone lubricant in the groove of the plastic lock mechanism cover where it joins the tailgate trim. I had this and it cured it completely after many times taking the whole trim off and trying to pad with felt or spray various edges of it.

The £149 figure is for Audis three years old and more and I think applies to all Audi dealers. Until January 1 this year, it was £99, though - superb value! A major service is, I think, about £249. It's also worth checking on Audi dealer prices for a cambelt change - £399 off the top of my head...

Had the same problem on my 07 Avant - the frozen washer fluid in the pipework had forced the junction apart. It's located behind the tailgate nearside hinge cover. I removed the upper and lower tailgate trim, which in theory is simple but proved a real pig to release the clips and then reinstall...

Re DPF: If you look on the vehicle sticker (on the inside front cover of the service book and also in the spare wheel well) it will say if yours has DPF. Mine says "A6 Avant TDI2.0 R4 103 KW DPF A7M 02/07" on a couple of lines. Hope this is of use.

My 07 A6 2.0 TDI Multitronic also does this, but I think you'll find it's the DPF (diesel particulate filter) cleaning itself. It does it a couple of times a month, say every 500 miles or so. It worried me at first!

Not sure when, but it was before your car was built. I'm sure the previous models (C5) had the uprated seven-plater towards the end of the series.
