    I think Audi put them in to reduce the noise levels of the turbo spooling up as well, making it a quieter drive.

    Next stage from that really is K04 conversion and then further on to BT. A lot of people get good gains from the basic mods though, just depends on how much gains you want and whether you get the "modding bug" to go further.

    I've got a 2011 S3 K04-064 with less than 10k on it. The mods on the exhaust flange are also complete and ready to bolt up. Even got a custom made compressor outlet adapter for it...
