    Tyres

You should definitely replace all 4 tyres together - if the rolling diameter of your back wheels is any different from the front ones, it'll put a strain on your Haldex clutch. And I gather they're quite expensive. IIRC the manual says the same thing... FWIW I totally agree about the Michelin...

    NIP loophole gone?

I know that various police forces are now thretening to take people to the Mags' Court for failure to furnish driver details. According to the Speeding forum on pistonheads.com (usually a good-ish source of information as a lot of people on there have NIPs pending) this is just a tactic - they...

    Nicked

That's terrible news, chief - the little scrotes really will have anything away that ain't nailed down. Personally, I find that stories like this send me reeling politically off to the right of Genghis Khan. Crucify the little feckers. Garotte them, on telly, at Old Trafford. Set them in the...

Hmm. So, do the clips have a part number? Where can I find that out?...

Those f****** b****** DV hose clips... Help!

[ QUOTE ] audi girl said: Surprised the dealer couldn't test it the same way ! [/ QUOTE ] Not "couldn't", so much as "wouldn't"... Not the most helpful people on Earth IME... So - to judge by the replies, brute force and ignorance is the way forward here. Do the AMD guys have a special...

Those f****** b****** DV hose clips... Help!

Right. So, I'm looking to test my DV, OK? I have a sneaking suspicion that the hesitation I'm getting when the car's under load is a leak developing in the diaphragm, and I want to correct this ASAP. The dealer found no DTCs, and "road tested" it for 2 miles in Beckenham before pronouncing...

    Power Loss On S3

This is really interesting - my A3's going into the dealer next week, for exactly this issue (well, that and a rather expensive-sounding grinding/squealing noise from the O/S front brake) - when booting it hard, at about 3.5K or 4K rpm, I get a hesitation, almost like a momentary lift, and then...

    rev limit?

It does feel (subjectively at least) that the Revo code allows a few more revs than the standard map. I hit the limiter a few times pre-tune, and never had any questions from the dealer or DTCs cropping up in VAG-com (I was looking for engine codes as well - coilpack/MAF paranoia). IIRC the...

    Warranty

[ QUOTE ] Crafty said: Service would be at 30k if on fixed servicing, if its on AVS ( variable servicing ) you need VAG COM to find out... but likely to be either just done or due soon. [/ QUOTE ] Is that the case with AVS S3s? On my MY01 (51-reg) A3, if you turn the ignition on and press...

    A3T vs MK3 Golf VR6

Hmm... The thing is that both the positive and negative aspects of flywheel lightening depend on its mass, and hence its inertia and momentum. If you lighten the flywheel (by drilling holes in a standard one, or just fitting a lightweight one - effectively the same thing), you have to strike a...

    A3T vs MK3 Golf VR6

It would helpthe engine reach high revs faster, yes - a lighter flywheel has less inertia and hence needs less force to move it. But there's a downside (there always is, isn't there?)... Since the flywheel's lighter, not only is its inertia lower, but it carries less momentum, too. So the engine...

    Millionaire Major - Guilty!

[ QUOTE ] S3 Moff said: Sorry, but they deserved to go down. Bank robbers who intelligently plan to steal millions have to go to prison, and I see no difference here. [/ QUOTE ] Well, except for the sticking-guns-in-people's-faces-threatening-death-or-mutilation bit... IMO this was...

    Bizarre door creak...

Well, I had a poke about in the door at the weekend. There's an awful lot of stuff in there, isn't there?... Still, nothing apparently loose in there, so I put the panel back on. It does sound like a seal, to be honest, and subjectively the sound seems to be coming from just next to my right...
