    Grinding noise

Just as a follow-up. It was the power steering pump. Got a local Audi garage to do it. Wasn't cheap but has cleared it up almost completely. Was also told that the noise will continue slightly until the air is forced out of the power steering automatically (which is done by dry-steering full...

    A6 power steering fluid

Actually, I need to change my power steering pump soon, will probably have to change the fluid too. Let me know if you find out what can be used. Personally I think any generic power steering fluid would work the same.

    A6 power steering fluid

I can't say I ever have, but I'm sure I'll have to one day. Can you not just order the audi spec stuff from vagparts.com or something?

Needing some more advice on injection

Hi again, After a bit of an overhaul on my 1998 2.8 V6 engine, I'm having a little trouble on start-up and I was wondering if anyone else has had the same thing before. Basically, it was all working fine, and the I did a few maintenance procedures to help the engine out a bit. I sent the...

New head needed for my S3 - brand new, or second hand?

Depends where you've seen the second-hand head. If it's from a reputable dealer then a head with 18,000 miles shouldn't be a problem and you can always inspect the wear on it. Whereas, if you saw it on eBay from a bloke with 3 feedback asking for cash on delivery ................. hmmm...

    a4 i.8 uneven idle

Could be a coolant thing but not so sure. Mine had similar problem. Try checking the throttle valve. Mine was gummed up with oil and crap. Also check the throttle cable tension under idle. Failing that, try checking the MAF. I would think it's more to do with the air intake than coolant but...

    2.5 TDI Technical Analysis ?

I got ElsaWin off of eBay for about £15. That software has saved my life more times than I can remember. Nothing worse than working on your car, finding a piece left over and not having a clue where it came from, he he

    Grinding noise

Well that was my thinking to. But then I thought it might be designed to be angled for some strange German reason. I think I might order a new one. Nothing like peace of mind. Cheers

    Nitrous?

Hmmm, just a random thought, has anyone ever tried just feeding an oxygen cylinder into the air intake? Obviously nitrous oxide is used in air intake as it has a higher oxygen content than air. So what if a small amount of pure oxygen was leaked into the air filter? Not a lot, just enough oxygen...

    Uprated clutch

Does anyone happen to know whether it is possible to get an uprated clutch for a 1998 A6 2.8 V6 30v Quattro? I think mine is beginning to slip and would rather avoid just putting another standard plate in if there is the option of one with a bit more grip.

    Nitrous?

Well as I get older year after year I find my right foot getting lighter and wanting to head more towards the brake. Won't be long before I have to start braking in random places and parking aross 2 bays in car parks. Then I'll just have to get someone to shoot me. I'm wondering how much...

    Grinding noise

I think I have semi-overcome my problem. My throttle cable wasn't tight enough so it wasn't idling properly and turning the steering caused the engine to struggle and make a noise. However. I am calling on the help of anyone with the ACK 2.8 V6 engine (or similar) to have a look at their drive...

    Grinding noise

The b*stards. Hmmm, cracked casing/bracket? I wonder what they're actually referring to. Did they give you an Audi part number at all? I'll see if I can find out what part it is. I'm still not so sure about mine though, don't think the belt is slipping at all. Hmmm, the joys of confusion.

    cold feed pipe

If you can create a heat shield then try to incorporate the cold air-conditioning pipes that run alongside in a lot of the cars. This should help to keep the air on that side of the heatsink cool and avoid interference from the engine temp.
