Mine has done it on and off for ages, most noticeable when cold. Always juddery when cold, doesn't often smoke but regularly smells of diesel. EGR valve was replaced in December and made no difference. Injectors were done by Audi about 2.5 yrs ago. Once warmed up it usually runs well and...
Diagnosis back on mine - couple of issues, both expensive.
Revs & limp mode is turbo blades sticking open.
Shuddery running when cold is injectors not working properly, diesel leaking into cylinders so possiblt injector replacement and & maybe cam shaft related. (Injectors were replaced under...
Let me know what you find out as my 2006 A4 2.0 170 TDI has the exact same issue. Its going into local indy garage today for vag-com scan and to see if they can find anything.
I have had the shuddery issues from cold for ages, well over a year. Not really bothered about it too much as was...
I've got a similar issue, with a few extra symptoms :faint:
2.0 TDI 170 bhp, runs rough whilst warming up and smells strongly of diesel (outside the car only). Doesn't happen all the time but getting worse. Injectors were replaced under recall a couple of years ago after they failed...
Got a recall letter yesterday, had all 4 injectors and loom replaced FOC by Harrogate Audi 2 weeks ago after car failed so bit late for me but nice to see they are finally doing the right thing. I was lucky as already pulling over on a country lane to let an oncoming vehicle past when my engine...
Turns out it is the injectors, which is what I was hoping! Just need Audi UK to authorise it and should be repaired tomorrow.
Fingers crossed that it will run reliably from now on!
Think this was problem with mine recently. Engine in and out of limp mode for a few days and then valve stuck open and choking engine so no power.
I had EGR valve replaced, I did look at it afterwards as some suggested just cleaning it but it was not too badly choked up. A gog had a few teeth...
Local Audi dealer pretty unhelpful. Claimed to have heard of injector problem on TT but not A4! Won't name dealer yet as they have the chance to make up for it as Audi UK were much more helpful, took details and confirmed it was model that could be affected by injectors (and had right sort of...
Just been and tried it, still not starting this morning. Hope it is injectors, I will call Audi first and see what they say.
Getting rid? Tempted, but need to fix it first anyway. Need a crystal ball - will this keep happening or not????
Just had my Audi A4 170 TDI fail on me, second time in a fortnight.
Had ERG valve done 1st time which to be honest did seem to be the problem as I saw the one they took off, it was bust.
Now had car fail again tonight so very ****** off, details on other thread but sounds more like injector...
Very ****** off with Audi's now. Car has just cut out on me 2 weeks after the ERG issue.
Bit different this one, driving along normally, glow plug light flashed a couple of times and engine cut out. Tried restarting but turned over and didnt fire.
Got out locked it, left a few minutes, got...
I did check and EGR is knackered apparently - stuck open and broke, not just choked up - I will get it back anyway.
Very glad not turbo, have service and timing belt due so is costing me a fair bit anyway.
Just hope the snow comes soon and I can use the quattro and remember why I traded in my...
To be fair he didn't actually say it was the sensor, needs a new ERG, part cost £250+VAT plus a few other bits. Not a main dealer and friend of a friend so they should be good on price. But then I have no chuffin idea and am just relieved it wasn't £1500 for a turbo so
Well done Gary, thats what the garage have come up with. say it is sticking open and choking engine. Hope they are right - looking at £400 repair but should have it back tomorrow so not too bad as long as they have sorted it.
