Very sensible. I once managed to leave a previous ('05) A4's windows open all night in a Glasgow rainstorm, after having inadvertently opened them from my trousers. The interior took a good couple of weeks to dry out.
There are plenty to choose from on eBay. As far as I can see, it's a standard fitting: one of the two I fitted to my S4 was advertised as having come from an A8. I think there are some Chinese knock-offs about as well, which will fit but don't have the damped retracting action of the genuine...
Noticed this too the other day when wiping a muddy scuff mark off the front passenger door, down by the B&O speaker grille - the microfibre cloth I was using snagged on a very nasty little sharp edge of the trim strip.
I reckon on about 30 to 33mpg, mostly on mixed out-of-town roads including some quite hilly stretches. I'd be happy with better consumption figures - but was expecting worse, TBH.
On my S4 with Matrix LEDs the headlamp washer does not activate every time I wash the screen with the lights on - I haven't counted the interval but would estimate it's perhaps every third or fourth go. IIRC my A6 Allroad (also Matrix LEDs) was every 5th operation.
I bought a pair of Velcro nets from eBay for £8 - they are very effective, and I’m pretty pleased with them. The A6 Allroad I had before the S4 had factory-fit side nets in the boot, and they weren’t half as good - sliding down the metal frame to spill the contents.
On one of the regular trips I made to my local Land Rover dealer to have yet more warranty work done on my Freelander’s troublesome DPF, I declined the offer of a wash and vacuum because - being January - the car would assume the matt ploughed field colour scheme within moments. But they washed...
My tuppence-worth: I’ve fitted K&N filters to various previous cars - Ford Puma, Mazda MX-5 (2 off), Alfa 147, and others - and concluded in each case that it made no difference to any aspect of the car’s performance that I could perceive.
If anyone else wants to do this (as I just have) the press-in captive nut fittings you'll need are VW/Audi part number 811807577C. I got a handful of them off eBay for £1.50.
What is your experience of the currency of your Audi’s satnav map? Ever since 2015 when I bought an A6 Allroad with integrated satnav I have had a nagging doubt that the Audi system is not reliably up-to-date. On Sunday 4th February, I saved the current UK map from My Audi to an SD card and...
I find I get flashed less often in the matrix-fitted S4 than with my previous ‘15 plate A6 Allroad - perhaps the system has been refined in the last couple of years. But whenever I do get flashed it is either by a vehicle in the very far distance, or a high-seated trucker whose headlights...
