I have a spare cluster that I took the temp gauge out of to replace the one in my Avant. If your after the buzzer I can see how it comes out tonight and get back to you. Not sure how to test it without fitting it to my car though.

Mine is doing this too. Assumed the switch is knackered but happy to be proven wrong!!

Just a quick update, thermostat is on order. Its not cheap - £63!! Its the fancy electronic one apparently? Anywho, its on order so will get it fitted at the weekend. I still think it needs scanning. DEF on the dash suggests its just a dash error no? So scanning it and clearing the fault may...

Ah ok. I might grab one in the week and have a go next weekend. Its gets warm but not hot-hot. My mates old peugeot would dry your eyes out in a matter of minutes but mine never seems to warm up enough. I will get the bits and swap it over and see if it changes. Cheers.

I get some heat - takes forever to warm up - probably 15+ mins before you notice it, but it does get there eventually. Its surprising none of the Audi dealers/specialists have mentioned it could be the 'stat. I know on the TDIs you have to remove the cambelt etc. Its probably one of those jobs...

Stu, how easy is it? engines a 2.0 FSi. Would a knackered thermostat give no reading at all on the gauge? Its never moved from cold.

Should have said, this was done by a local independant specialist (VAS Motion) here in Guildford, and was not done at Audi. Would Audi have been 'looking for work' so to speak?
