S3 8L 2001 Headlight Rotary Switch With Rear Fog Light Indicator LED

Hi, The rotary (twist) headlight switch on my 2001 8L S3 with self-levelling xenon headlights is playing up; the front fog lights are permanently on regardless of how the switch is set. Have been told that this is an MoT failure. Looked around eBay and Amazon Market place and have sourced a...

Faulty Lambda Sensor(s)? Poor running from cold. Brake Pressure Solenoid Intermittent Warning

OK. Much reading later and to answer my own questions and for the benefit of anyone else reading this; there are two lambda sensors, pre-cat used to manage fuel trim and post-cat used to monitor emissions and make sure the cat is still working. I took the throttle body assembly off (again) and...

Faulty Lambda Sensor(s)? Poor running from cold. Brake Pressure Solenoid Intermittent Warning

Spark plugs were changed in June during the service which included an oil change, brake fluid change, new air filter & new pollen filter. I replaced all four coil packs myself about 3 years ago, the previous set had been on the car for ~9 years. Any thoughts on the lambda sensor fault code...

Faulty Lambda Sensor(s)? Poor running from cold. Brake Pressure Solenoid Intermittent Warning

Trying to figure out what's going on with my 2001 AMK S3 with 71K miles. It's a TBW model. I am the only owner and other than fitting aero-wipers it's stock; no remaps or performance upgrades fitted. It's my daily-driver and gets a 15-20 mile round trip to/from work during the week (mixture of...

Anyone have experience of Goodyear eagle f1 GSD3's uneven tyre wear noise s3?

I'm running GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's and they were quite noisy/bumpy until I got a 4 Wheel Alignment done and the wheels balanced.

Rear Number Plate Holder Bolts - what size?

Hi, got fed up using sticky pads to fix my rear number plate (they keep getting soggy and the glue doesn't hold), so I've treated my car to a plastic number plate holder as I didn't fancy drilling holes in the plate. Anyhoo, I'm trying to figure out what size bolt/screw I need to attach the...

    S3 AMK Spark Plug Gap

D'oh! A quick look over at http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/technical/gaps.htm reveals that the 0.28 and 0.32 figures are Imperial Measurements (INCHES) and should be 0.028 and 0.032 respectively. Their handy guide indicates that the 0.028 INCHES is roughly 0.70mm which my trusty METRIC...

    S3 AMK Spark Plug Gap

Guys, what is the correct METRIC (mm) gap for NGK Platinum PFR6Q Spark Plugs on an S3 AMK MY01? I've seen various figures ranging from 0.28mm to 0.32mm banded about, but as I have a metric feeler gauge my nearest options are 0.25mm, 0.30mm or 0.35mm  TIA, Mark.

    1999 S3 Fault Codes???

If there is a fault with the airbag system, then you should consider taking the car to a VAG specialist, or a dealer. Despite being part of the safety system, airbags are actually quite dangerous and can cause serious injury if it deploys whilst you are poking around it. RossTech have a wealth...

Yaw sensor - Where is it?

Hi, your best bet is to buy/borrow a VAGCOM and check which sensor is faulty, as there are couple of sensors that can cause the EPS/ABS warning light to come on. Here a couple of posts that may help Diagnostic tools off ebay [Buying a cheap VAGCOM, you'll need your own laptop!]...

    Couple of Q's about vBulletin

It's the Warn (0%) and the 5 beige boxes graphic that I'm interested in. I've seen this on a couple of vB forums, but have been unable to figure out which plugin/mod it is

    Basic DIY Servicing

www.spark-plugs.co.uk Alternatives (for a couple of quid more) are DENSO IK20's (direct equivalent) or IK22's which run cooler and are popular for remapped (high boost) engines, although they are claimed to affect cold starts in the winter. I'm running IK20's on a standard 210BHP MY2001 S3
