I'm getting the opposite info from eveything I'm reading. Seems the S3 can be even more thirsty than the S5. Maybe it's to do with low rev torque in the S5?
So you're saying there was a difference between the S3 and S5 then?
It's just that I've around and had replies in other places and it seem the S5 is around the same MPG if not a bit better
Yeah I reckon it's something I will get done anyway if I can't see it being done from a previous owner. I had plans for the S3 or A5 to have mods and remaps and alsorts done anyway. With the S5 I'll just get a decent exhaust and the carbon clean and that's proabbly it except for the extra bass...

It's not that I'm that worried about fuel economy I guess, though maybe I made it sound like that, I was just worried it was gonna be vastly more than a 2L turbo petrol

I think you're right on your other reply. I haven't bought it yet but looking into the codes them BMN is for the 170 between 2006 and 2007 and from that other link the B codes aren't affected on the A3
