Mine's the same mate - it only fails when it's cold. Within 10 minutes of being in the car in the morning, it works fine... but for the first 10 minutes (when there's still frost on the side windows!) it will only go to silence, or full blast.

I tried to remove the throttle body on my T-plate A3 1.6 today... managed with the two upper bolts fine (bit fiddly, but managed OK), but then struggled with the jubilee clip. I expected it to be the usual silver type, but it's black and doesn't appear to have any way to remove it? Sorry I'm...

Exactly the same problem here - the alternator was replaced on my car last week. I'll book mine in to check this out and let you guys know if I get any updates.

Thanks Update I was driving the car back from work this evening and it appears the noise is there even when I'm not braking - sounds suspension related, so will get these checked out - expensive job?

Thanks, you can hear something going on in the door innards, but the window just doesn't move - so I'm thinking the switch and fuse are fine?

Thanks guys, The air-recirculation problem is now fixed... it was user error... I didn't realise it wouldn't allow it to be switched on if the demister was being used! I'll work on the idle and window problems this weekend, so you'll probably see more posts from me!

Mine does the same (1.6 Sport) - if you put your foot on the throttle can you feel it pulsing when it judders? It's been suggested it could be a dirty throttle body? Just wish we had the weather to check!

Thanks guys - totally new to the brands, so Vagcom I presume is software that displays error codes? Similar to BMW? I guessed it would be the throttle body, but will investigate when the weather gets a bit better I think!
