I took it easy for the first 1000 miles in my 140tdi BE, trying not to labour the engine too much then increased the performance after that. It will take a good 10k miles to fully run in though, as soon as I reached around 10-11k the engine seemed to perform better and got also got improved mpg.
I think you can have them painted though and think thats what these are, think they would look better in a satin black rather than a shiny painted black as well

Quite a few dealers are now confirming that the 170 also has a single tail pipe just like the 140, some people think this is because the new MY11 verson of the 170 now has start/stop and almost all cars i've seen with that have the single tail pipe so I think that would be more likely the case...

It will be around 5 months by the end of the month, its not just a3's that have long lead times as well though, the dealer claimed they just sold a used Q7 for 3 grand over the new price because they can't get any in til the end of the year
