Nice results would have been good to see what is was running in standard form. What intake have you got, as I'd be well happy with these figures from my 1.8 but I'm unsure why your losses are so big. Is yours a quattro?
Audi A3 2009 8P3 1.8 TFSI 3 door
-Cheap to insure, £600 and I'm 21 3 years driving exp and 2 years ncb
-Very little reported issues
-Can do great MPG when required 50mpg at 65mph
-Quicker than the diesel variants
-Sounds decent in standard form and I love the turbo whistle that comes in high up...
It should state in the hand book when and whether the chain needs replacing. I have a 2009 58 1.8 tfsi with 52k on, runs great and decent power, will be a shame to see it go when it does. Enjoy the car just make sure it's got full service history and that the correct oil has been used and all...
I know a lad in Scotland that had his 1.8 tfsi mapped to 240bhp with a company called etune. They seem a great tuner and I think if I was you I would want to try a remap and a nice exhaust before I set out spending thousands on a turbo upgrade.
172bhp is very high and I think you will struggle to get much more from it without upgrading the turbo. Majority of mapped 1.4 tfsi's run from 145-155 so yours is doing very well.
There's a few 1.4 tfsi's with bigger turbo upgrades that are running around 250.
The 1.4 tsi twin charger can hit...
I have the same engine but mine is a 2009 facelift, don't think there's any difference in engines though. My pal in Scotland has his 1.8 tfsi running 244bhp with a map and a full miltek exhaust. Not sure of the engine code tbh.
The 1.8 is much better on fuel I average 35-37mpg on day to day shortish trips my commute is only 9miles. On a run I can see 50mpg sitting at 65mph, anyone with a 2.0 prior to 2009 and they will admit they aren't the greatest on fuel. The only reason I would go with a 2.0 is for quattro but it...
I looked at all three of these cars when I was purchasing my A3. I'm 21 with 2 years no claims and I went with the 1.8tfsi insurance is only 800 but saying that the 2.0tfsi is only 50quid more. The 1.8 and 2.0 are pretty much identical engines, you can tell the 2.0 is quicker but it's a minimal...
