    HELP REMOVE REAR BUMPER

Thats not bad. I paid £135 for a bosal detatchable kit but then fitted it myself. The actual towbar wasn't too bad too fit but the electrics were more tricky as you have to fit a relay not stop nuisance bulb warnings.

    HELP REMOVE REAR BUMPER

I fitted a towbar to mine a few weeks ago. There are a couple of screws in each wheel arch, 2 under the lower lip and then you have to get access below the light clusters through the trim inside the boot. Below the lights there are 3 nuts each side that need to be removed. These are quite low...

It's been said before- Just to reiterate....

This forum must be full of water pump stories, fortunately for me, mine is a bit better! Had the cambelt replaced today by an Indie and decided to go for the metal impellar water pump. Glad I did as the old one was starting to break up..... I am taking the family on holiday in a couple of...

    Thermostat

Forgot to say that I changed mine on my 1.8T (AGU) Golf in about 1 hour and cost £12 from GSF. Not sure if it's similar on the Audi. I've got the 163bhp 1.8T in my A4 but haven't looked if it's the same.

    Thermostat

Defo sounds like the thermostat. The stat should be closed when the water temp is cold thus stopping water flowing through the radiator. Sounds like yours is opening too early so its cooling the water too much and not letting your engine reach its normal operating temp.

    What's the temp actually doing?

    Light on the subject please

It's a common thing on these, road salt gets in behind the screw and also the light contacts which corrodes them. I had to chain drill with a small drill around the lens to weaken it and then break it away so as to get some pliers on the head of the screw. I think 2 new light assemblies and...

Just when I thorght it couldn't get worse!!!

All VW/Audi's should always stay at 90oC and should never move. Even though my Golf (1.8T)has started to sit at about 85oC all the time. My 1.8T sport A4 (163) is faultless though, it get up to temp quickly then never budges.

    1.8T 163 Engine EPC light

No worries, at least my throttle valve and sensors are clean now so may save agro in the future. Cheers for the input.

    1.8T 163 Engine EPC light

Turns out it was the cranck shaft position sensor. Local garage sorted it for £110.

    1.8T 163 Engine EPC light

Thanks for the info. The butterfly valve was a bit dirty so I cleaned along with the connectors. Unfortunatly the light is still coming on. Also if the light comes on when the car is at idle, it stalls the engine. When it's on next I'm going to the local to stick it on the VAGCOM. Will let you...

    1.8T 163 Engine EPC light

A follow up to the above defect, when the light comes on the idle speed increases to 1200 from a normal 750rpm?
