Its for Audio,,,,Eg A Sony Walkman has a 3.5 jack at the end. One end of the lead goes in this and the other end goes into the 3.5 plug hole in your photo and you play your favourite "pick of the Pops" To days equivalent would be an I phone lead. Hope this helps

UP date Unfortunately the seat belt fraying was not covered by the extended warranty that Audi gave with the car. Anyway since the car is only four years old Audi are replacing FRee of charge. Well pleased. I did find out that car manufactures recommend you change seat belts every five years ????
