My 1999 S3 was diagnosed as having a caput turbo today so on the hunt for a new one. PD Tuning have said its knackered and needs replacing and due to my car being stage 2 its a waste of time getting a rebuilt turbo as it will do exactly the same within a short time due to them being weaker...

haha ill get pics up of it in a newbie thread just wish it wasn't smoking and using oil like nothing else! i'm thinking its the turbo from what i've read in this thread....where is the best place to get a recon or a new one if needs be?

this has been an interesting read! my S3 is doing basically the same but the engine was apparently rebuilt with forged pistons etc 6000 miles ago. Been trying to find out what has been going wrong so have a few things to check tomorrow. My thoughts have gone from rings to turbo.....hmmmm

Its only a standard turbo and standard oil pump How much are we talking for a new turbo?
