Sensor is located inside the nose section (lift bonnet and look down, you can't miss it, centrally located). I guess it could effect A/C performance but I'm not sure. Try unplugging and reconnecting the sensor (most likely cause is a bad connection.
Which engine, 2.8? Some problems can occur when you just move the car out of the garage and then switch off and try to start a little later. Tends to flood. Not heard of hot start problems though. You could try audiworld.com, this has a much larger members list.

1998 2.8Q: Anyone experience noise on start up from the fuel pump? I have found switching off and restarting normally stops it (otherwise it just continues endlessly!) but it is quite irritating and occasionally starts up (usually in warm weather) when driving. Any feedback?
