      Hi
My Alpina B3 biturbo is fitted with Bilstein suspension - developed by Birds BMW with Bilstein. This is very good, giving a compliant ride + good handling, far better than stock.
I am considering an A5 3.0 tdi quattro instead but I found the (car) low speed bump compliance a bit firm.
Can you suggest a kit that would improve the compliance but retain decent handling?....Bilstein B12 or other?
      Cheers
      Martin

        Morning,
If budget allows then I'd say the Bilstein B12 Pro kit is by far the best option in terms of handling and build quality closely followed by the H&R Cup kit. If you want something a little more comfortable then the ST kit is worth considering.

Thanks for your reply. So, the B12 kit will give a less harsh and more compliant ride than the standard sport and/or s-line set-up?

I find it does yes. To me the Audi Sport and S-Line suspension is just stiff, not refined at all.

I have a 2004, 1.6 A3, looking at coilovers, potentially lowering max of 100mm, any recommendations? Budget around £350 tops, although could probably stretch to £400 if they would be the world better.

100mm would only be the maximum I'd need, that would just put me to the floor, minimum I'd need is probably 70mm

        It is an 8P1 yes

      hi damian....

next week im going to be buying some coilovers for my AMK S3. Just wondering what you would recommend.....

at the moment its a toss up between AP and Apex RDX's. I know the apexs are slightly more, but i don't know if that means they are better....
what are the prices would you do on each of these?

        Afternoon,
        Thank you for your post.
Very similar kits to be honest, I'd say the AP are the more popular option and offer a slightly better ride where as the Apex have a slightly better build quality.
        AP - £415
        Apex - £462

        AP coilovers - £400
Comp Brake tie bars - £239
You could go all out and go for bushes and ARBs, it all depends what you want to spend.

Hi Damian - your thought and ideas on suspension mods for my A4 2.0 Tfsi S Line Avant Quattro Special Edition 107K miles. Has the S Line Special Edition 18" wheels
Currently on standard S Line springs & dampers and suffers from the typical stance issue on quite a few S Line Avants. The rear springs have settled and looks about right, the front sits a good 30mm too high. Gary
      1. MarkoBanV likes this.

Afternoon, the only way to really get the perfect stance would be height adjustable coilovers. Did you have a budget in mind for what you wanted to spend?

budget c. £500 for spring & damper. I was originally looking to do springs only, but I guess at the mileage would be a sensible approach to do both. Am I right in assuming the lowering dimensions qouted are for standard ( SE) non S Line models ? Would ideally like the ride to improve a little too, quite crashy on uneven roads ! Will be doing the RS4 RARB too.

With that mileage I'd say you'd be best off changing both the shocks and springs so for within your budget one of our budget coilover kits may be your best option.
