Clutch overheat (hard driving or stop-start traffic) S-tronic

They did speak to them, but it was more of a 'sitting on the side lines thing'. Audi were sympthetic, but didn't really get involved.

Clutch overheat (hard driving or stop-start traffic) S-tronic

After 5 months of waiting in local Audi garage, I've finally agreed to hand my S4 back for part-refund. Turns out gearbox was completely shot, requiring a new one. Local Audi garage took so long to organise the repair with the warranty company that after three months I rejected the car. Took...

    B8 S4 Avant - Possible High Milage Purchase :-/???

    1. Is 100000-150000 miles actually that bad? they dont record miles on airplanes! It's not really bad by modern standards, however on older cars the S Tronic can be weak, so double check. 2. Are there any owners out there of S4 B8's with BIG milage on them? any issues/things to look out for...

S4 purchase- but does this gearbox trait spell trouble?

Yep. My warranty was void because of a late service. Later, gearbox failed catastrophically. Even the newest boxes are a little dimwitted going from forward to reverse, especially the sports models. Check if your box had a change at 38k, if it was more than a month late or over 1000k...

    Multitronic Gearbox Oil Change

Did you buy your car from Audi, if so your warranty maybe void as it's supposed to have an oil change every 38k. My car missed it's 38k oil change and now they won't pay for a gearbox since it's failed completely.

How long for a warranty gearbox job

Hi, I'm still waiting for my S4 to have it's gearbox replaced on warranty with Audi. Just out of interest, how long from diagnosis to getting your car back did those who have had a full gearbox replacement had to wait. I'm currently at around 7 weeks. Cheers Andy

    S4 S-tronic judder

The 'crabbing' you feel during full lock is apparently normal according to Audi. I've heard it's worse on the more hardcore models too (R8) etc. Straight line could be a problem though, can you get the gearbox read?

    Potential M3 to S4 questions ...

Check specifically. Wear and tear things like clutch is 2k. Mechatronic is 2k more or less too.

    Potential M3 to S4 questions ...

Mine went at 85,000. First a gearbox malfunction (clutch too hot), soon after lost 1, 3, 5, and 7th. New box and Mech unit...still waiting for the outcome from the warranty company. If you do go extended warranty, check it's had the services within 1000 miles or one month of each interval...

Audi Drive Select (ADS) - Efficiency Mode - Anyone Use It?

As well as stop-start, the newer version of Drive Select (on the TT I'm borrowing) also turns the engine off when you coast...I would imagine it saves quite a bit. Dull response though. Seems to charge the battery a little more on breaking and coasting too.

    Winter tyres ?????

I have no doubt that they will have a slight difference, but I feel it's a complete con generally. I see friends paying good money to swap to their winter tyres on 1ltr Peugeots, only because people like secretsupercarowner and the like in EVO say it's essential. It's the same people that keep...

    Winter tyres ?????

Okay, for up north I'd agree the weather is poor, however for most there really is little point swapping for winter. It seems like an epidemic at the moment for all EVO readers to blow £1000 on tyres and alloys for frankly inclement weather. Tyre tech is good enough for 99.9% of our weather.

    Winter tyres ?????

Honestly, winter tyres in the UK is like bringing a hand gun to a knife fight. Save your money.

    Check engine light

I'd be handing it back for a full refund. Dealer would know they need to play ball too.

Clutch overheat (hard driving or stop-start traffic) S-tronic

Well, received a call today...still with the warranty company after submitting the full report on Monday. Fingers crossed again.
