    Darn. I agree an aux input would be more flexible. Is there any way of converting the iPod connection to one? If not I may just get the items listed in my OP and setup some playlists and live with the terrible setup

    So you can't choose songs on the iPhone itself? (so the connection acts like an aux input) or does the screen become useless? do the stock iPod connections come with different adaptors? Thanks for the help so far

    First post so go easy! Today bought a 2007 a3 Sportback which has what i think is an ipod dock in the glovebox (I dont have any other adaptors than the one i bought it with). My iPhone 3GS doesnt fit in properly currently so was thinking of getting one of these. Would it work...
