A3 1st/Reverse gearbox snatching/jerking issue

Purchased from main dealer 1st December 2012 had 2 long road tests at end commented that not happy about the snatching at full working temperature told was due to adaptive box and would be ok. When cold no issues. Car in workshop after 5 weeks, 5 days later the metronix box not fitted Audi warranty dept would not authorise replacement despite numerous tests, software updates. After 9 days authorised replacement main clutch pack (£300 +) no difference First question Audi Technical asked technician "is it temperature related" which indicated they suspected cause of the issue from the outset but hoping to avoid the cost of replacing the metronix box. Metronox replaced car now perfect.
