Cheers mjsewell,
I've had the pop-ups out before (with the help of my nipper at the wheel!!) by removing the clip whilst they're extended, so I guessed how they work...very clever Audi :-) I just wondered if there might be a separate fuse for the pump for the headlight washers...If not it's...
Front and rear screen washers/motors working fine.
When the headlamps are on, the pop-up's neither pop up nor spray.
I can't find the relevant fuse in the side of the dash (using the ident. chart in the removable panel or in the handbook).
Any ideas what could cause this?
Motor/pump...
Cheers Nickynibbles,
I don't have a performance issue - car runs like a dream. I might try the coil pack swap - I know what a failed coilpack feels like :-(
Car doesn't smell of eggs either this is why I think it might be O2 sensor(s)

Cheers man,
Cheaper parts would be great once I've figured out what's broken :D
I gather that the over the counter price for a cat is around 700 squids!! Aaaargh!
I had 4 coilpacks go earlier this year - I replaced all 6 as a precaution.
I've posted many times about my coilpack troubles - now it seems I keep getting the engine management light on with "warm up catalyst below threshold", "Misfire detected cylinder 1(or 3)" and "random/multiple missfire detected".
I'm hoping someone far more techie than I could confirm that bad...
Just found a PDF here, I know it'f for a TT, but the principal is most likely the same:

This links my Secondary Air Injection issue with the Warm Up Catalyst.
I'm going to check all my vacuum hoses at first as the car has just had a sevice at a...
Thanks icenutter - i've updated my post as I'd made some important mistakes in the post, maybe this might help diagnosis. I've added VAG-COM output too.
Well, with a usb aftermarket cable and VAG-COM I've established the gearbox is NOT the problem.
I cleared some faults which I know are old (because I replaced the ignition coils - all six of them)
However, there was a warm up catalyst error.
I saved it and cleared it.
If I look in...
I have two "failed/incomplete" items listed under engine readiness:
Oxygen Sensor
Secondary Air Injection
What on earth is the second item??
******Updated******
This is the VAG-COM FAult Code output, note I have resolved the last three items (replaced all 6 ignition coils)...
Anyone got an opinion on this little gizmo?

Seems a bit of a bargain - pity I didn't see this before ordering my VAG-COM cable....
I have a '51 plate car with roughly 78K on the clock.
Had all six coil packs replaced under warranty in Jan 2004.
Had a further three go about 8 weeks ago.....
Had a further one go as we were approaching the ferry after a week on the Isle of Wight at half term........decided to replace the...
Just ordered the cable and I have the freeware vag-com software primed and ready to go on my lappy for when the cable arrives........let's hope the light doesn't extinguish before the cable turns up ;-)
