I have just downloaded to Audi warranty booklet and that is a lot of wording! Not sure what other third party companies are like but in this booklet there is a lot of mentioning of (excluding wear and tear) which is a bit concerning.

Definitely not normal, Ive had my mine for over 1 year now and experienced no problems (touch wood) with the stop start which i always keep on.

well brother has decided against the A7. I did nudge him that way, car is way too big for a young lad. Going down Audi tomorrow to sign him upto the A5 version I think. More economical and better looks imo.
