I wish. I have just replaced a seized clutch pulley on my 1.8T, It cost me £65.

Bad news indeed. At least it should be fine for another good while after it's fixed. £1000 isn't cheap to fix a £2500 car but it wouldn't be worth much with a dead motor.

I have a similar problem with 02 1.8T. On mine the alternator pulley is siezed solid. This is causing the tensioner to Bounce around like crazy, Resulting in a rattle. I would look at that, if it is that and it's left, it will destroy the tensioner and belt.

Hi guys, I am looking for a new alternator pulley for my 1.8t and have been looking on eBay. most of the items on there are listed as fitting 1.6/1.8/1.9tdi and 2.0 tdi. Are they a one size fits all pulley, or should I be looking at a model specific item? Thanks in advance Andy
