Sorry to hear that. Years ago I had a belt break on an Opel Omega (2-litre petrol engine)- it should have been changed but hadn't been, because of a mixup in the service record book. Fortunately, the Opel engine was one in which the valves and pistons don't overlap, so it didn't do any damage...

In my A4 (2000) a strip of black fabric is gradually emerging from the dashboard, at the upper edge of the frame around the central air vent. It isn't doing any harm, but it looks ridiculous. I can't pull it out, and I can't push it back in. I suspect I will have to remove the actual vent...
