Hello, Have been a reader (and occasional poster) of these forums for a while, as owned a 1.6 A3 a year or so ago. Recently bought a 1.6 Mk4 Golf, and very recently upgraded (understatement!) to a Leon Cupra TDI 150. For some reason recently, I've really become interested in the 8L 1.8T...

I will be doing exactly the same, but with a silver A3 Dont think I'll lower it as much though! That interior is truely drool-worthy.

I had a black RX8 which I had to sell for financial reasons... loved it but had to go.

richy - still, how did you get insurance on the 3.2???

Oh and by the way...I'll be the youngest driver ....when the time comes...19 with 2.0 TDI DSG/Sline. And no Im not loaded...just saved and small loan!

19 year old with an S3 - that defies insurance and all sense of reason hehe. Who wouldnt want one though. Can anyone else vouch for the S3 in the hands of a 19 year old? The most powerful car I have driven is my brother's Saxo VTS (!). Bit of a difference there. I'd really need to have a go in...

Not a brand new one, 2000-2003 8L. I'm not 'loaded'...just sensible saving and a small loan. Looking at AT though, the TDI Quattro is out of the question. I'll have around £11,500 to spend.

Hehe. True. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the newer shape A3. Think the 8L design looks much more subtle/cleaner. The new A3 just looks like they couldnt stop designing it and kept adding curves everywhere.

Been browsing Auto Trader for the last hour or so and have spotted a few of the A3 TDIs. No one seems to mention them on here. What do people in general think of these? Does it use the same PD engine as the Golfs/Skoda/SEATs? I'm asking because I'm after a new A3 towards the end of the year...

AndyMac ....did you not read my original post? I did pay for it to arrive quicker (2-3 day delivery). Yet I recieved them a week and a half late with NO refund on the extra postage fee (they said it was the courier's fault!). They STILL havent come to pick them up yet. . And yes, whatever...
