I know this is an old thread but I’m planning and on having a go on my A3 8p 2.0 TDI BKD and was wondering whether this actually worked?

All sorted now, it was the Steering Control Module and the flat battery was caused by the radio not turning off automatically when taking the key out of the ignition due to that faulty unit.

The battery is flat now:worried: 1st time that has ever happened, jumped in the car in the hope that it had miraculously gone as quickly as it had appeared and the car stuggled to turn over and the dash was flashing on and off in time with it turning over. I have charged the battery now but the...

Stripped off the steering wheel and cowling. Checked the steering module and nothing seems loose Could it be that this second hand steering control module has reached the end of it's life? If so would there be other faults as the power steering is still working! Any advice on what to do now?

Thanks both, Ill check them both but I have a feeling now that you (NHN) have mentioned that Steering Module that I had to tape it around the column when I installed it as one of the clips had broken so hopefully its just that and it has come loose. fingers crossed, Ill let you know, thanks again.

Where is fuse 52 located? Do you have a pic as I've looked in the drivers fuse compartment and the engine fuse box and I can't identify it. I'm having the same problem no washers to back or front and rear wiper has stopped working...it worked fine yesterday!
