Boost Surging / Fluctuation. What to try next?

Thanks, was there a test procedure? Or did you just replace it and find out it worked after?

Boost Surging / Fluctuation. What to try next?

There was no obvious leaking from it on the boost test, and I also tried running the car with the feed into the top of it blanked off, effectively and it made no difference.

Boost Surging / Fluctuation. What to try next?

So I've had boost surging / fluctuation with my 1.8T AUM and I can't seem to trace the problem. It doesn't always happen and its always when near wide open throttle, sometimes it happens, other times it doesn't. In the last year and a bit I've done: - New Coil Packs + New loom wiring - New MAF...

Recommended mappers Hull or East Yorkshire?

Yeah I think it was because I'm worried that if they find a boost leak or such then I'd have to drive home, fix it (as they might not have parts in stock or whatever) and then drive back again. What I'll do is find somewhere local do a smoke and boost leak test and then go and get it mapped...

Recommended mappers Hull or East Yorkshire?

Hi Paul thanks for replying. You're still a bit far from me, 100 miles.

Recommended mappers Hull or East Yorkshire?

Can anyone recommend a decent place around the Hull / East Yorkshire area? From my understanding of reading the threads on the forum I'm much better off with a custom one, however all the recommended mappers I see on the forum are way to far away for me to consider. It's a 1.8T AUM, I also...

Help Fixing Solder Joints Bose Amp (pics)

I'm not entirely sure I've got the correct bit, I disassembled the sub to get to this, but it looks different to some pictures I've seen online of Bose amps that seem to have a heat sink. Can't spot anything else in that corner of the boot. Edit: Yep its on the otherside, I was sure I'd read it...

Help Fixing Solder Joints Bose Amp (pics)

Thought I'd have a crack at resoldering the joints on the Bose amp today to stop the crackling when cold, as I heard its a relatively easy fix. After plenty of swearing (and cracking plastic trim fittings) I've got the thing out and disassembled, the forum post I read told me I needed to reseal...

    Fuse #7 Speedo Keeps Blowing

Cheers guys. It was the oil level sensor rubbing on the driveshaft, the clip holding it hand worked loose and it was resting against the drive shaft. Problem solved!

    Fuse #7 Speedo Keeps Blowing

Thanks. Pretty sure its not the cluster, everything else is working fine, and if I put in a fuse while the car is running everything works perfectly. Maybe there's some kind of intermittent problem with the speed sensor or wiring. The only fault code relates to the speed sensor. But it'd...

    Fuse #7 Speedo Keeps Blowing

I'm trying to trouble shoot a problem i've got with my 2001 A3 1.8T. Fuse #7 which protects the Speedo, Oil Level Sensor and reversing lights keeps blowing. I've had the rear clusters out and there's no evidence of water damage, but to be sure I removed the bulbs. What I've found is that if I...

Loom, coilpacks and plugs changed... Still misfiring. What next? (1.8t)

OK, Problem solved!! (I believe) I'll put this up in case anyone encounters the same issue. I've just driven to Sheffield to pick up a genuine Vag-Com cable, as all I could do with my crappy one was check error codes, but not actually reset them, so I've been disconnecting the battery to clear...

Loom, coilpacks and plugs changed... Still misfiring. What next? (1.8t)

I got back from work this morning and have had another look at the car. I replaced 1 of the Coilpacks with a known good one, left the battery disconnected to reset the error light and went for a drive. As usual, on the drive the car felt good, and no error light. Popped into the shop to get...

Loom, coilpacks and plugs changed... Still misfiring. What next? (1.8t)

Unfortunately I binned them. I had one changed by the Garage (because it went while I was away from home and I didn't want to abandon the car), I then pre-emptively changed the rest after a 2nd one went. So 3x are cheap ones I bought, and 1x was fitted by the garage. Interestingly, before I...

Loom, coilpacks and plugs changed... Still misfiring. What next? (1.8t)

Yeah when I replaced the loom I traced it all the way back to the plug under the airbox and the ECU plug under the windscreen. I re pinned all of the plugs correctly rather than splicing in. The error codes are the exact same ones that I had before swapping the loom. The 12v feed has to be...
