8V VCDS Mods

Put this is a different category a few days ago but should have posted here! oops! Does anyone know someone with a VCDS cable or know how to so some mods in Leicester area? Anyone have any experience of "Vagpro" that are located in Oadby,Leicester? Website here: http://www.vagpro.co.uk/
They seem to do all the normal VCDS mods. ill call them tomoro for prices but just wondered if anyone on here had any experience with them

Cheers
Am London based so cannot help with VCDS but I know VagPro. I met Khurrum and his girlfriend at AiTP8, they did a wicked BBQ! Give them a call and mention Alex (vagcarcoding) and he will hook you up. If there is any help or coding he needs I can email it over :)

Something else I found on another forum, might take a look tomorrow :-

Tried this over the weekend, didn't have the option to deactivate, which many others mentioned. Think something else needs to be done to have the option to show. Haven't tried lc yet with the setting on normal.

Cheers to DJAlix and aymensallam! Tried the change above for safelock and worked perfectly.

Changed byte 8 bit 6 (from 43 to 03) and now enabled.

Hey Alex, did you ever found out if there's any 5.8" MMI Radio with Bluetooth that's able to enable voice control for Bluetooth? Still struggle trying to get this to work :disappointed:

You in a 2016 model? Some said they couldn't find. So far nothing really changed. Going to try this weekend to play around a lil more with thus and the xds setting.

Thanks mate. that company dont have a phone number from what i can see on their website and i havent heard anything from them since my email enquiry so wondering if your offer is still open? only fancy normal stuff doing, needle sweep etc..... I havent read all 55pages of this thread but i got to page 4/5 and people where discussing if tyre pressure was able to be done. Did this ever get added via vcds?

I feel a major coding protect coming on... maybe... depending on exchange rate :(

Just a heads up for anyone thats interested in retrofitting FL Rear Clusters with Dynamic Turn Signals to a PFL car, this retrofit will render your car unroadworthy within the UK if you have a Sport Back or Hatch Back vehicle. This is due to the new units no longer containing a rear facing reflector which is mandatory by Law. PFL Saloon and Cabrio vehicles are not a problem as they already have separate bumper mounted reflectors, a design which the FL cars have now adopted across the range.

Or you can stick a E marked reflector on somewhere!

Hey Alex, couple questions, hope you don't mind..

1) did you ever found out if there's any 5.8" MMI Radio with Bluetooth that's able to enable voice control for Bluetooth? Still struggle trying to get this to work :disappointed:

2) I somehow got myself committed to a 8W/FL 8V steering wheel deal... As far as I know all buttons work (including the rewind/forward buttons) except for the menu call up button, their work around is to have a custom IC chip installed, but is there anyway to reprogram the buttons with VCDS to avoid the custom IC chip?

Never seen a car without SDS active from the factory to be honest as the feature is part of the UK basic spec. From what I have read 5F > Byte 24 > Bit 1 Active is all thats needed in order to enable it if you have an Audi MMI system. I would also check that Byte 8 > Bit 0 is active.

For the SW buttons, again something I am yet to do, but I would make sure the following is configured:

5F Adaptation (should already be active to be honest)
  • (77)-Vehicle function list BAP-MFL_Jocker_0x34
  • (1)-Vehicle function list CAN-MFL
  • (146)-Vehicle menu operation-menu_display_MFL_jocker
16 Steering Wheel
  • Byte 0 > Bit 1 = Active (Buttons for Multi-Function Display/Board Computer installed
All the above is what I can find while working offline using VCDS v16.3.1 data maps. More options might be labelled within v16.8.0/1.

Just got a few simple mods done on VCDS via http://www.vagpro.co.uk/ Superb service by Khurrum. Came round at 9:30pm as he was going away for a while so i was desperate to grab him while i could! Got normal simple things done: Needle Sweep, Oil Temp, Lap Timer.... £20 & at my home too. Brill! :yahoo: Think thats all for VCDS at the mo. Not sure there is much else i want apart from tyre pressure monitor.

Or change also the rear bumper with the new facelift. Is it possible?

Anything is possible... but would you really want to go that far, and spend all that money, just to have Dynamic / Sequential Turn Signals?

Forgive me if this has already been covered, but i cannot find the answer using search...

Can one enable auto hold on a vehicle that only has UK spec EM parking brake using VCDS?

I see the adaptions in the ABS module, but cannot activate without the correct security code.

I realise I do not have the button, but setting it to "always on" would get around this?

Just want say a big thanks to @DJAlix for enabling a load of VCDS mods for me today. If anyone needs anything doing in the North London area, would definitely recommend Alex. :salute:

A retrofit would work out somewhere between £1800 and £2000 fully activated for someone coming from a Standard MMI system. Approx £450 less if coming from a TechPack system.

Can you confirm what is involved in this? I'd be pretty interested in getting this on my RS3 :)

Looking at your signature I believe you already have the MMI/MIB1 TechPack, so whats needed for you would be the following:
  1. New MMI/MIB2 Unit
  2. New USB Interface Module and Cables
  3. Installation of 1 & 2
  4. Adaptation and Coding of 1 & 2
  5. Component Protection Removal
  6. Navigation Licence Pack
  7. Navigation Licence Activation
Optional
  • New MMI Controls
  • Wireless Charging
  • Single USB socket (mounted op. cigarette lighter in centre console)

I'd like to know if this is possible too. Or if you need to run cables to the abs controller

All possible ABS security codes are listed in post #1547.

Brilliant, I will try these out and report back.

Fingers crossed the standard UK spec EPB module will have Auto Hold functionality :)

I have managed to activate it now, but still doesn't work I wonder if I need the button to now turn it on? Or is there a way to activate it in VCDS. I had the belt on as I know that's a condition that must be met, but still no joy.
There's light at the end of the tunnel though now haha

Did you activate the adaption and set the status to "always on"? There are two different adaptions that I saw for this...

Which security code worked for you?

That's the one I set to active. Didn't see any others in the abs module relating to it always being on
My code was 24990

The following adaptation channel seems to be missing / unmapped within VCDS but is present within VCP and ODIS:
  • Auto Hold Functional Status
This is the channel you can set to "always on" and I highlighted this to Ross-Tech a good while ago, pre v16beta. Not tested this feature myself as yet so not sure if it does indeed work or not.

Ahh I'll need to keep an eye out for this, if I knew it would work, I'd buy the button, as long as the wiring is there for it, I'll have to check that as well.

Thanks for the info. I might email rosstech as well, just to make sure they haven't forgotten

That's a pain!

I genuinely thought I had seen both adaptions in the list, but I just checked my car and I must've been mistaken :-(

The security code works for me too, but only to set Hold Assist active. I guess we need the other adaption to make it "always on" to confirm if the module is capable...

I don't see anything in your list of mods for the auto comfort close mmi option. I have MMI comfort open with long press but not comfort close with long press.

To date I have tried to only publish "mods" which I have personally tested. In the UK comfort opening and closing is a standard feature from the factory so I have never had a car to test with.

Just a thought, do you know if the adaption is present in previous versions of VCDS and it "dropped off" in newer versions, or if it's never been there?

Seems strange that other products have the channel :-(

Could have. To be honest its something I never looked to test in versions previous to what was current at the time of post #1547, as for the most part those who have the feature from Factory wish they had never wasted their money on it.

Just an updated to this based on new information / research:
  • Saloon FL Rear Clusters = No built in reflectors
  • Cabrio FL Rear Clusters = No built in reflectors
  • 3Door FL Rear Clusters = No built in reflectors
  • SportBack FL Rear Clusters = HAS built in reflectors
So... PFL Saloons and Cabrios, due to the existing bumper mounted reflectors, can have FL Clusters retrofitted and be road legal. The same goes for PFL SportBacks as the FL clusters DO have a reflector built in. 3Door cars will need reflectors installing to be legal as Audi have chosen, for some strange reason, not to include reflectors in the new clusters.

I think there's a legal minimum surface area for the reflector - wonder if the S/B F/L lamp satisfies that ?

Had a quick look - no mention of size - just colour, height from ground and distance from edge of vehicle.

Could be good to go after all ! :friends:
