Thats really sucky. The belts due soon on the TQS so i think i'll be doing it before anything else. Was it overdue?

You'll probably need a pair of new cylinder heads, or at the very least a set of valves and possibly guides.

That sucks dude. Can the V6 be repaired, or is it likely to be new engine time?

will not know until monday when the mechanic has a look at it.

thanks Byzan a4 for changing the title was not thinking straight when i typed that

That sucks man, it might be easier, quicker and cheaper to just change the whole lump to a 2.8. i've just Supercharged my 2.4 i'm a little bit concerned that the waterpunp wasnt changed when the belt was done about 20k ago but it was done about 8k before that i might be in the same boat in a few months ! lets say i like living dangerously!

It might be but it all depends on how much it is going to cost there is only so much i am willing to spend on a car when it is only worth just over 2k. Plus i need the car for our holiday in 3 weeks that the kids are rally looking forward to and i do not want to disappoint them.

Well the car is all fixed cambelt had gone but it had taken the hydrolic tensioner (so the garage said) first which saved the engine so the garage has changed the

water pump + housing
stat
cam belt
aux belt
all tensioners
complete coolant flush
and new under tray (Engine protector)

for the grand total of

£550

so not to bad considering a week before i had a quote to change just the cambelt and aux belt and that was £450 .

They had qouted me over 1k if it had take any valves out so i am a very happy man agin even if my wallet is now empty

So to look on the bright side.... for an extra £100 you had a load of other things changed/checked as well.
Happy for you.

Glad its up and running for you now.
