Hello guys,

i'm planning to install oem bi-xenon on my 2.0 TDI Audi A3 2005. Till now i've bought the 2 headlights including the xenon bulbs and the electronics units, the command unit - 1T0 907 357, the two leveling sensors and the wires. I will also have to buy the headlight switch. My question is if there is something else that i need to take into consideration before i will put up everything.

Thank you!

That module shows for the VW Golf & others, I cant guarantee this has any differences between brands, for sure it doesnt show up on the 8P chassis in ETKA that I can see.

Also what version of central electrics is yours?

I don't know what version i have my vin is wauzzz8p35a016162 where do i have to look in etka?

Thanks!

You will need to login to module 09 & check this.

Do you have vin lookup, doubtful, so unless you want to take your trim above your footwell of to visually check or ring your dealer & ask, then thats the only other way.

Well i'm using ETKA 7.0 with all it's updated :), do you think that there is a posibility to make the bi-xenons adjust from the button inside the cabin, like the halogen ones do?

7.0 doesnt include vin lookup without a crack or dealer login info.

I dont get that comment at all after you said about installing the kit, why on earth would you want to control the lights via the manual dial in dash when the whole point of the sensors, module & headlights is to do it automatically, rather pointless doing the mod if you want manual control.

Anythings possible in life, you just have to find the way to do it, but if you want auto aswell then no, I wouldnt even bother, uses different motors & headlights.

OK, so i'm a bit dissepointed, i've installed today the kit but my central electronics unit is to old, and doesn't have the encoding for bi-xenon. Apparently mine is 8P0-907-279- A, my question is from where can i buy a newer and updated one.

Thanks!

Huh, but you said last night it was a K????

YES, this is wahat ETKA shows me 8P0-907-279- K but when i've connected vag-com and went on central electronics module the big surprise came: 8P0-907-279- A

a K revision supports Bi-xenon for sure (its a highline module as opposed to midline you have), the only problem is it is probably not a direct swap for your A revison module. You would to examine the wiring diagrams for both modules & swap some of the wires.

You need to check your vin with a dealer instead of guessing with your etka that seems to be reporting the wrong data about your car & see what parts supersede & maybe take a chance as I have before on eg. gateway module.

But your central electrics is an A that supersedes to a D which then doesnt go anywhere & is a basic board, so you are either stuck on D which I dont think will help or you take a chance & get an F or K or even P & see if you can fit this, your choice but they're not specifically for your car, but as people very well know alot of parts on my car arent for it either lmfao.

You need a highend board, I cant guarantee they will plugnpray with your car once coded, may have to move wires, a risk, but isnt life just 1 big risk.

And if you install the P, you will be left with a X-mass tree  The rest I don't know.. cause NHN won't share :whip::lmfao:

I've uploaded here what i' have managed to do till now. I can have flashes on bi-xenon, i have DRL that are open the entire period when i have the ignition put on, i have normal xenon range and bi-xenon range. This is a movie with what i've managed. My question for Nigel is if i buy this button and i won't change the bornetz it will fit: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....318187&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2712wt_939

A short clip.

Also i figured that i can use some resistances in order to trick the ecu to think that on the DRL sockets he has 55W bulbs, i can do that by installing some 50W resistances but then another problem occurs, these kind of resistance generates a lot of heat and really i don't know how to dissipate it fe without using some radiators.

I'm not sure he knows why LOL - Audi transfered the coding across and it worked even thought doing it himself to the same coding it didnt work!

Dont be silly, when I know you'll know.

Yes I still need to compare codings & adaptions, once done & I find the discrepancy then I will report back but I am atm thinking there's a hidden step to enable certain things on the module, maybe not, but I've enabled some other boxes & the problem hasnt returned, but will play later.

So if I go with the module to the dealer, they can sort it out?

Bump...

influxsg, any updates with this as its something i would be looking to do in the future.

Thanks

Bump???

Why do you need to know if he did it or not, its been proven already to be able to install bixenons etc as I've updated several now using certain modules & wiring changes.

Hi NHN,

I am interested to know how the final price for carrying out this update? i.e parts, labour etc..

That has alot of variables & too many to answer overall in 1 reply, if using/buying from dealer than its a 2k parts list with sensors, headlights, maybe more if updating modules already on car, plus maybe a 1-2k labour charge dependent on what they do overall, if buying 2nd user from ebay etc then could be as low as £6-700, but chances of that are low, let alone the labour you would spend on the job.

I'm basing the above reply on fitting it as it should be as in axle sensors, correct modules for proper coding.

Great upgrade for sure, but can become expensive, but one I always think its very worthwhile.

Thanks for the info NHN, much appreciated.

You may have seen one of my recent threads:

Installing xenons would be at the top of my list of mods so doing quite a bit of research into it. I've found these bi-xenon headlights that include the ballasts:

http://cgi.ebay.de/2X-ORIGI-XENON-B...Item&pt=Autoteile_Zubehör&hash=item23066f573d

They'll alone will cost aroung the £530 mark :faint: I guess it's a matter of keeping an eye out for bargains...

That is a bargain, dealer is £1400-1500.

Also make sure you get the headlights for your country as lhd & rhd are different.

Funds are a bit low at the moment as im on the verge of purchasing the A3 in my other thread. May have to sell one or two things to get these.

Once i have acquired all the parts needed for the job, are you able to recommend anyone to fit/code everything? (From your comment earlier suggesting you have updated a few, i'm guessing you are able to do this??) If so, how much do you charge and how long roughly does the installation take?

Thanks for all your help.

Yes I can do, where abouts are you.
