Cars running standard at the moment, got my mate who said he will map it on the cheap, but little worried about the clutch going if i do.

Bought a Cupra R splitter that needs fitting

Apart from that not going to touch it. The reason the S3 went was to save money so thats what ill be doing, but when things are better on the money side of things, I know for sure the next car I will be buying is a S3 again, might even treat myself to a 8P.... Wont be for a few years tho

Looks nice, envious of the cheap running costs !

Wanted a yellow one but couldnt find a good one anywhere on my budget, so ended up with this... Whats happens now theres loads of cheap yellow 1s for sale.... LOL just my luck

But overall im happy with it, insurance is £500 cheaper, tax is cheap as and im getting 550 miles to a tank... Wish the audi was that cheap

I have often thought about chopping in my S3 for an oil burner as I have been doing a few miles recently but I just cant bring myself to do it. I'd probably aim for a golf GTTDI but they hold quite a high value still.

I know what you mean, it took me a long long time to actually get myself to sell it, but at the moment i just couldnt afford it. Was looking at getting a anniversary golf Gt Tdi, but saved a little extra money with this

so whats the difference in price for the two ?

Well the S3 went for £5750, this cost me £5300

Tax is £125 - 12 months, think the S3 was £190

Insurance on the S3 was £1000, the leon cost £485

Getting 49mpg at the moment compared to the 27mpg, do alot of miles so great saving

Dont get me wrong, the audi was fantastic, i loved the look of it, the way it drove which i miss but its good to have money again to do what i want with it

looking at those numbers youve done well. im sure youll learn to like diesels too, you can learn to like anything :p

You're talking me into this Mike. I'm getting 24mpg doing silly little town journes where I dont even get to enjoy the S3 much and i get 280 miles to a tank if i'm lucky at £70 a tank :banghead:

Right, i'm off to pistonheads!

yeah S3 is the wrong car to have if your getting fed up with fuel prices. I used to have a remaped gttdi and I loved it, and even enjoyed driving it more than the s3. I was looking at getting a gt sport last year but they are mega money.

I do like the leons but I dont think Id buy one over a VW, granted they are much better value but vw's do hold that premium. Whats the interior like?

550 miles to a tank? You cant argue with that. I don't think I get 550 miles from 2 full tanks.

Looks a lovely motor too.

Fantastic choice. Considered this myself before going all out on the S3. Just couldn't fall in love with every angle of them. Epic mpg figures though. Well in.

Looking good, how do you find the diesel drive, i dont think its as bad as everyone makes out.

280 miles to a tank! ouch!.

I know what you mean by not liking every angle, i always thought the **** was to big. But when i owned my LCR i grew to love the looks, very aggressive without being in your face, and you have an advantage that not everyone recognised Seat's are as quicl as they are, and they come with loads of toys which you don't always find in Audi's and VW's

Diesel is the way forward, £70ish gets me 725miles from a tank.

Must resist, must resist, must resist....

When fuel rises to over 150 for a tank, I'll start looking at a diesel. Love my S3 too much and if I sell it now, I'll just lose more money than save by driving a cheaper diesel for a couple of years.

Nice replacement Mike, you've obviously done the maths and come good. I'm fortunate to be running a diesel as a workhourse, so I know the benefits! :)

You boys complaining about 280 miles from a tank, try 190 miles I get from £65!

This has spurred me on to start saving a little bit extra and get an 8P S3 a bit sooner than I first planned though.

Yea when i got it. Was like "It looks good but from this angle not so much"

But its been growing on me alot over the past few days and the Cupra Splitter is on now so adds to the looks, only thing really is the ride height. Which is HIGH lol

Getting used to it now, at1st i wasnt very happy going to a diesel from what i had, but now im getting happier. Pulls quite well and handling aint to bad. Its really quite and hardly hear a thing from the engine, cruise at 80 on the motorway and really doesnt feel like its doing 80. Just makes me happy when you see 50+Mpg on the dash lol

Look to get yourself some LCR alloys if you can, or the smaller one from the FR+ they did, S3 top mount strutt brace will fit straight on and will make so much difference. and de badge the boot. Then it will look the nuts...IMO
