how do i adj the pump timing as mine isnt appearing on the graph in engine block 004 basic settings tdi graph. also can i code auto lock and headlights to stay on after leaving car for set time or is car too early? 99 a6 180 tdi sport,

Did you meet all the conditions? Was engine temp up to spec?

Sometimes the timing is so far out that the cluster of dots is off the chart and you have to rotate the pump to get the cluster to appear.

To get answers on coding the locks and so on, you really need to post an autoscan so people can see what modules are present in the car and what their coding is set to. Once that is known, someone may be able to look up information on your car and give an answer. Autoscans show more information than just fault information so, please, post that up for us.

thanks Bruce, do i just copy and paste autoscan?...........as for pump timing i cant get the timing to change in zone 3 basic settings, i adjust pump and it stays at -5 btdc when it should be 2.2 atdc....

thanks Bruce, do i just copy and paste autoscan?
Did you read how to save an autoscan in the VCDS manual? Once you have it saved, copy and paste the details into a post.

VCDS Manual said:
Results:
The output from looks like this autoscan-result-A5-8035.txt
If you close the Auto-Scan dialog, any data in its output box will be lost. If you would like to keep a record, click the [Copy] button first, then you can paste the results into the application of your choice, such as MS Word or Notepad.
[Print]
This function sends the results to your printer.
[Save]
This saves your results to a file in your VCDS\Logs directory like this: autoscan-result-A5-8035.txt
[Clear]
This erases your results. This does NOT erase the fault codes from any of the controllers. You'll need to go into each controller to Clear Codes or use the Clear All DTC's function for that.
To return to the Main Screen, click [Close]

ok ill get it copied but before i do any mods i want to get the pump timing done but its looking like the pump is u/s. tdi graph gives me some strange readings so if i just read group 004 basic settings my timing stays at 5.2 atdc wherever i adjust the pump to, smokes alot too! im guessing that it could be the advance ****** meech in the pump? or commencent of inj valve? shame to break the car as i like it but dont want to spend out on a pump really
