ive just fitted my Evoms curtsey of John aka Jsws3 :icon_thumright:

was a pain to fit, much cut hands, screaming, shouting and funny looks from neighbours... but!! the noise from it!! at low revs u can hear it sucking away and when u lift off at high revs you get this beautiful flutter from the dv... its even better when the windows are closed :hubbahubba:

anyway here are a couple pics, need to take some with something other than my iphone and a vid as well... oh and put the last few bits back int eh engine bay and sort out an engine cover too haha

does the Evoms come with a heat shield for the turbo or did you leave the existing one in place?
I saw Davie Phillips one in the S3, and he noticed the pipe gets VERY warm/hot at the back over the turbo, which I too have now noticed on mine, and you actually get noticeable heat soak and a loss of power.
I've bought some reflective heat wrap off ebay which you should do as well, as these kinds of intakes really soak the heat up well at the back compared to the factory air box.

ive got the Evoms ally heat shield but broke the rear cover mounts in trying to unscrew them :( so need to get a couple more on order and then that will go on
had a feel of the pipe after a quick blast and it was really warm!! so sooner that goes on the better!

Yeh those rear cover nuts are PIA to remove.
But youll find even with the shield on its realllyyy warm, almost hot after a run or when you've been idling.
I've found this form of mild heatsoak does rob a bit of power, you can tell when you set off quickly after idling for a long time or a run as mentioned.
Going to crail on weekend, don't want to be loosing horses as i'm sitting at the lights!
If my stuff from e-bay doesn't come quick enough I've seen some stuff in B&Q which I might use if it can handle it lol.

ive seen a few people on here that have heat wrapped their pipe work, once ive got the shield in place ill see how it feels and then maybe look into wrapping... the fun begins haha!!

Wow looks really impressive! Bet you are chuffed to bits! Yup, short vid would be good!

haha cheers Sarah!!
im really really chuffed!! when i went for a drive i had a hugeee grin on my face haha
ill get a vid put up tomorrow as its stared raining :(

i love my evoms... shame i aint heard it in over 8 weeks! one day ill get my car back..... i will look into this heat wrapping when i do get it back...

Hi Mate,

Had my EVOMs on for a couple of months and really rate it. Is prone to a bit of heat soak so I also need to look into the reflective heat wrap.

Looked at your pics and you need to insert the original duct back into the engine bay to allow the cold air to channel in. Also might be worth running a cold air feed from the fog light. I did this and it helps especially on warmer days

this is what i'm going to use, can feel that heat soak quite bad actually.looks like it'll do the job.

guess i will c u at crail on sunday?

Told you mate you will love the noise it makes .
Just hope your gf won't moan as much as mine did about the noise it makes .
Oh and give that engine bay a clean.

haha i really do!!! dont think ill be having the music on as much as i did before haha

haha its not the noise... its the money... i was banned form spending a penny on it... oops :p
im just hoping she will be too oblivious but shes not that daft haha

yea it need a right good scrub, will do it maybe thursday when ive finished with the uni work and decided what im going to do with the engine cover

Same here the mrs said i was chaving it up and all the boy racers that come in to her shop use to say is sounds sick .
So from there on in the mods i did had to go .
if i know the kids that said its sick i would nut them and tell them to stop telling my mrs the mods are sick lol

its always the boy racers that have to ruin things!!
in theory mine doesnt have a problem with me modding the car as she is as much of a petrol head as me. its more of the being a student and blowing even more money on it... now for the remap haha but that may have to wait as thats quite a chunk of cash haha
naaa leave the nuttung of them... should run them over with the sick car lol

that stuff looks good but won't have time to go it before Sunday.

Yep fingers crossed the weather holds out. Will keep a look out for your car on Sunday.

Im goin with shaz n the big convoy , hear its an early start tho, weather better be good!
am tempted to go down b&q they've got some reflective foil for home use, might experiment with that while the proper 3M stuff comes, after I check its not flammable lol

The noise certainly grows on you, it seems a bit dull when you go back to standard, in regard to heat soak I can't say I ever noticed a problem on road or track and my car consistently gave the same dyno results so I wonder wether the heat soak issue is not as bad as we read ?!?

I must admit though I never encounter any traffic so perhaps the issue is more related to long periods of slow driving following a thrash.

Where are you boys off to on sunday ??????

good old crail drag strip. Where r u from?

re- heat soack, mines a Neuspeed but pretty sure its made form pretty much the same material. I find when accelerating away, after being at the lights for a bit ,there is definately a slightly poorer throttle response low down and a fraction less power at first.

Heat soak is not as bad Martin but generally the cooler the intake the better. BTW thanks for recomending stattler for the hpfp. Steve jnr is a top guy.

I see you have left your standard intake from the front panel off the car,is this for a reason ? i though most leave it on? how does the pipe sit in to the cut out in the housing at the side of the battery? mine needs a bit of adjustment i think as it doesnt sit as low in to it as yours does, love the kit though well made and sound amazing but only had mine on a few days so i cant comment on heat soak and hope i will never have to

i just hadnt got round to putting it back when i took the photo but its there now, gonna take some more photos once ive got the evoms heat shield fitted (and given the bay a bit of a clean!)
it seams to fit in perfectly, had to give it a giggle when i was fitting it so it all sat right
well ive only driven it twice for all of maybe half hours since ive fitted it, but will give it a good run when i go to uni tomorrow, should be good

You will get to uni and do a u turn and drive back just to keep hearing the noise .
I couldent stop poping out in the car for about 3 weeks when i fitted it .

haha well im just handing my portfolio in so the car wont be left off for long and i feel that ill be taking the 'scenic' route home :p
had the misses in the car today and she hasnt picked up on it yet... tho i was shifting up quite early and very light with the right foot.... looks like this could offset the heaver right foot action that will happen when its just me in the car haha!!

I was /am the same when i fitted my intake, the dv flutter and turbo sound is great, for some reason, my exhaust/DP seems to pop and bang occassionally which is uber cooool! Although maybe coz im jus revving it more.

haha i havent tried it that hard yet, tho it will be getting a full work out tomorrow so see how it feels... will be a good day, finish uni for the summer and get to take the car for a good spin :o.k:
