Sorry to keep on guys but this is driving me mad:sadlike:, i cannot open or lock my car with the fob i've tried both my sets so can rule out those (i think) when i lock the car with the keys it sometimes set the hazards off and sometimes when i unlock it, it only unlocks the drivers door and sometimes it unlocks all the doors. Clear as mud i hope.

Thanks jolly

I'm sure there is a common fault with the wires running from the body to the doors, peel back the rubber to check for a broken wire.

Thanks blackquat i have pulled the rubber sleeve back as much as i could but did'nt see anything wrong, i'm now thinking that i should just let aa warranty find the problem, a friend of mine done a diagnostic check and only had 1 code come up : alarm by sensor alarm system closed 01463 what does this mean and could it be causing my problem.

Thanks jolly

it could be the convienence module mate. it contorls all electircs in cabin doors alarm etc.

the code relates to Fault Found: 01463 - Alarm triggered by Sensor for anti-theft alarm System

Thankyou for your reply basspower,

I had trouble with the alarm a few months back(battery acid melted it) and i have not replaced the unit yet, toying with the idea of getting a better system, but as i say that was a few months ago and its been fine upto now, do you still think it could be this. How much for a new 1 mate.

Thanks jolly

Is the siren still plugged into the car, as if so then you have to remember acid on a pcb thats connected to to the alarm system can cause issues, that would be my 1st port of call & tbh I would just replace the existing siren for the audi newer/better version & stick with that as the audi alarm system is fairly good for what we need, the immo takes care of most.

The siren is still in place but not plugged in.

Thanks

Just replace it mate then look at the problems, as with cars, I find even the most remote problem can affect many other things & you need a working siren anyway, so not as though its a risk/pointless expense huh.

I've booked the car in at east kent audi on wednesday for a full diagnostic check so i am hoping it is something minor and not the £473:asskicking: for a new convenience module to be fitted, give me back my 205 1.9 gti anyday if anything went wrong with that it was only a tenner to fix lol

thankyou

Mate, christ buy a siren & then get someone local with vagcom to help you fit it, why goto audi & pay there hiuge hourly charges & a conv module on ebay is like £50-£60, damn get the siren & conv module & come to me & I'll do it with you way cheaper than audi.

What should i do then, get them to do a check on diagnostics £57.50+vat then go from there. They say that the siren not being plugged in should'nt matter and if its not the module then they would'nt charge me for it, i would be more than happy to get it done with you, but i've already checked ebay and there is only golf ones on there at the moment, i'm getting so frustrated my head hurts:banghead:

Thankyou for your help

TBH you should buy a siren anyway, you need this, then buy a 2nd hand conv module which we can possibly source for you as it will be almost same as the charge by audi anyway, then contact myself & can swap out the module & stick siren in aswell, certainly cheaper than audi fella.

That sounds so good if you can sort this out, i dont want to sound ungrateful but when do you think we could sort this out as i need to get to work asap (self employed) but just let me know roughly how much it will cost.

Thankyou very much jolly

PM me & we can discuss it directly mate.
