thought id open a thread for general conversation and views for a change,

so......whats everyones 1 favourite mod, why and what did it cost.

ill start, mine would really have to be the rns-e, as this is something that is used all the time, by the whole family, completes the look of the cabin and only cost me £400 all in, inc loom, vim hack, sds hack and aux in.

for me i think its the s-line kit and dual exhaust mod, really tranforms the car, subtle body kit not too in your face, cost about 900 pounds all in, really pleased with it.

Would Have To Agree !!! Full OEM S-Line Kit , Not Over The Top , Just A Neat Subtle Up-Grade !!!

I have 2 if I'm honest cause on different cars:

S3 8L - Folding/Dimming side mirrors with fold/unfold with full closure via single clicks of remote lock/unlock, I could (sad I know) stand there all day & watch that do its thing & each time it was cool, great mod that have ported to the 8P aswell & other cars are possible.

A3 8P - Bixenon Adaptive headlights, by far the best mod for me on this chassis, it required a hell of alot research, time & effort to wait for parts aswell as audi wanted serious dough & everytime I use it it makes me smile, really does, tonite whilst collecting pizza & booze included.

Costwise, not going to even try to work these out as wasnt cheap & 8L mod was purely audi kit, 8P I waited for months on months to find some lights, certainly several thousand.

Double DIN centre console upgrade on my B5 with rev camera etc
On my B5 as i don't have a B6

I would say the S4 front bumper+grills+side blades all in for £380 :eyebrows: I think I was a bit lucky to get them together and freshly sprayed in my exact colour by chance.

on my audi? a can of black paint

in genral

remap!!!

Good thread!

If I'm allowed to include a 'theme' as a mod then it's the S4 grille, door blades and silver mirrors. On their own not much, but in conjunction with each other add up nicely.

As an individual mod, probably my cupra splitter.

RNS-e & OEM Bluetooth - £420 for RNS-e, about £275 for Bluetooth - everyone who rides in my car is impressed with it !
VERY closely followed by the RS4 rear anti roll bar - best mod of all for less than £100 (which was the price of the ARB + fitting) - turned a barge into a decent handling motor :)

My RNSE is my fav mod so far although i am prouder of my DIS and CC retrofit :)

Also the LED sidelamps i put on make a nice little extra as they are easily visable in the daylight so almost DRL`s.

So whats the benefit of this mod and what cost are involved?

It dramatically reduces understeer, and makes the whole car a lot more responsive without affecting ride comfort. The parts costs about £60, and require about a hour's labour to fit. Speak to Pjmspeedy on this site.

I'd have to say folding mirrors, RNS-E, Bluetooth, Auto Lights, Coming Home Lights, Vortex Kit, actually pretty much everything I've done is up high on the list for one reason or another.

I'm planning on doing rear electric windows one day and definitely what NHN has done with his folding mirrors too :)

I would have to say that my best mod would be the Rs4 rear ARB and my JBS Phase 1 remap. Well worth the money:ohmy:

£60 second hand or £60 new from stealers?

All in all with bolts brackets etc you'll be looking at the £80 mark and thats Brand new, Think I paid close to £90 with all my fixings included.
Half hr labour with my specialist seen it sorted.
pm PJM SPEEDY, he's the man you want for your Bits.Beats the stealer!

You can buy new from a dealer, but like I said, speak to Pjmspeedy on this site. He supplied mine new, with all clips & fittings. I just checked what I paid him (this was about a year ago), and in fact it was £77, including delivery.

Sounds great!
Does he do fitting as well?

No. Some forum members have fitted it themselves, but if like me you don't feel confident in doing so, it should only be about an hour's labour at your trusted independent garage.

Any indy should do it for an hour's labour - might take u 2hrs if u do it yourself.... Quattro's are slightly more work (will need a mate to help) because of the twin exhaust exits....

Out of all my mods, that favourites are:
The "makes you smile from across the car-park" award: S-Line (quattro GMBH) bodykit really changes the whole face and visual nature of the car (helped by the 18" S4's). £1500-odd for the kit incl spraying and fitting, so not cheap. S4 wheels were £250 + £400 (refurb) + £600 (tyres), so hardly the budget upgrade either!

Driving it Hard: Only "performance" mod I have is the RS4 RARB and it really changes how the cars feels when cornering hard. (£80 + 1hr labour) BUDGET/VALUE AWARD

Internal cosmetic mods: I think the RNSe+bluetooth+SDS adds a real level of OEM class and impresses the passengers the most (think they were £700+£450 inc parts+fitting), but the R8 FBMFSW brings the biggest smile to my face, so that gets the MAIN PRIZE - makes the car feel like a really special place wether you're cruising sedately, sat in traffic using the steeering controls, making calls, etc or gripping the soft leather and whipping it through it's paces... I managed to get it new for £800, inc fitting, so a pretty big indulgence, but considering that they're now >£900 just for the parts (wheel, airbag, control modules, etc), I dont; think it was too bad!

Out of the OEM spec optional extras that I could least live without: Xenons... no debate.

So I assume the RS4 rear ARB fits B6 convertible as well, right?
Although mine is not a quattro, it is a V6 3.0 so it has twin exit exhaust... guess that means slightly more than 1 hour labour then?

On a similar note, can anyone recommend a good indy near Warrington Cheshire that is not Awesome GTi?

I think the part numbers may be different for the Cabriolet.
