CR K04 Stage 4 Hybrid, comparison to k04

Still waiting for it to turn up have all the hoses hopefully next week some time then i can pull the front bumper off and get it fitted

Because I have put all important information into the Sticky thread above and dropped it out the sticky section as it was getting crowded.

It's there in the STICKY post ^^

What about that other company thats doing a k04 manifold, IN or NI (or whatever it is) engineering? Arent they nearer to having one finished?

If its anything like the K03 one they do then avoid it like the plague....

Any closer to getting it mapped Steve?? VERY interested in seing how your injecters/fuel pump hold out with this turbo. Ohhhh so happy someone else is a Guinea pig insted of me and my wallet for a change.. lol..

Pete...

Have you had an Alex 1?? Ive "orderd" 1 too,but he says he has a welder away,so still waiting on a date for when he knows he will have 1..

Pete...

I am thinking to go down this route. . . . What bhp are you look to get at the end off it?

Speaking to CR Turbos and they reckon the turbo is good for 330/340 bhp as long the enginge internals are done i.e Rods and pistons.

Also do you need to do anything to the gearbox? I know would have to uprate the clutch.

Martin

Anything over the 300 bhp mark i will be happy with i wouldn't expect 330+ but you never know. Gearbox and clutch are all stock but im sure it wont be long before i will need a new clutch

Rods need changing but pistons don't. That power is achieveable but you will also need to get a DP n sports cat and wait for jbs to release their exhaust manifold. Nothing needs doing to the g/box apart from the clutch.

300bhp+ is the holy grail with this turbo but regardless the torque should be impressive but only if the rods have been done...

FMIC should be fitted to any mapped K04 IMO, std SMIC's are pretty useless beyond std boost...

Clutch will suffer from the increase in torque but as long as you don't launch the car then a std clutch in good condition will last a while... I still run a std clutch and dual mass with my GT30 although once the large port is on and the mapping is finished then it might not last as long :)

I was going for a Pipewerx DP and decat with Milltek cat back. Is there no other complaines that offer a manifold?

There's another company called IN Engineering I think that are closer to having a manifold finished but apparently their quality isn't as good.

Not much of a market for transverse engine K04 turbo mani's... more so for K03 turbos as they in more cars (Ibiza, Leon, Golf etc)....

Leon Cupra R owners tend to go BT as do most of the TT's stateside it would seem rather than mess about getting anymore power from the K04...

K03 turbo'd engines have a much better time of it and with the K03 hybrid (essentially a K03 with K04 internals) then for most peeps getting 260bhp from 150/180bhp is like going BT for them...

There is a company planning to produce a decent tubular mani though...

Could be just what is needed :)

This was the spec was going for:

CR Hybrid Turbo Stage 4
FMIC
DV - Forge 007p
DP - Decat - Milltek
TIP
Conrods

You cant really say that on something which has not been seen by anyone as yet
Whenever, If ever it becomes a reality for K04 bolt on turbo's then it will be possible to gauge its price & quality

Its all speculative currently, as no one offers one to my knowledge (exlude the ebay chinese rubbish)

I was going by the fact of their K03 manifold not being the greatest.
Im hoping their K04 manifold will be as good as if not better than jbs as it's cheaper n will be done sooner.

Well i got the phone call from the office today saying my intercooler had turned up shame its 60 miles away but I have a busy weekend anyway. Still waiting on the top boost hoses to turn up but looks like i can get started on my jobs next week

Still no top hoses i hate buying from people who say they have it in stock but then when you have paid they go oh wait not in black sorry. F**kers!
Bill How are the rollers going? when will they be up and running im hoping to have it all sorted by mid June so i can come down before GTI Inters

Still VERY much looking forward to what this turbo can produce... Stage 2'd mine last week end, and very happy with it,but had this hybrid idea goin round in my head for a while now... Any closer to getting it maped steve?? The suspition is ruddy killing me!!! Lol

Pete...

Its killing me to am waiting on top hoses from SFS taking for ever i ordered them nearly a month ago. I wont be ordering from them again! Once i have them i will be fitting it all then hopefully down to Bills some time soon!

Yeh Im keen to know figures too. If its good enough it may make me stick with the S3 instead of just giving up and getting a A4 diesel lol

it would be a minor miracle if the rollers and myself were in the new unit by then... It does'nt stop me mapping it tho.

where you moving to Bill?

just moving locally less than 1/4 mile from where I am now, but in a more modern, larger unit. Still in Stonehouse
pending the property agents responding to my request to sink the dyno into the floor.. which is taking an age to answer.

Any joy yet Steve, before i plough my cash in to some other random project?? lol..

Pete...

Still no top boost hoses am going to fit the intercooler this weekend and just use the standard hoses for know hopefully they will hold for know. Then its just a case of getting down to Bills to get it mapped.

Well what a wasted long weekend. My hoses finally turned up but every time i went to work on my car it started raining and with the garage full of crap i couldn't get in, so hopefully with the warmer weather and the longer days i should get it done soon. One thing im thinking is will taking the N249 out make any difference as im thinking of doing that later on.
