Hi guys,

Been a member on here for a while, (had a MK4 and MK5 golf previously) but only got my S3 in April this year and thought I would get a few pics and introduce myself. I gave it a very quick detail today, the light was fading so the pics are not great, will borrow my girlfriends Nikon and get some proper pics up later.

I bought the car from Coventry Audi earlier this year, managed to negotiate over 20% off the price when I purchased it!! I got them to do the cambelt and waterpump, had the roof rails done as there were early signs that it was bubbling and it had 1 x new alloy fitted and new pad's and disc's all round, in all a bit of a bargain!! Since owning it I have had a full service carried out by APS in Brackley, I also had a non-res Milltek fitted by them on Monday this week, which sounds fantastic!! The only other change is a set of genuine RSTT's which will get a refurb after the winter is over.

From what I understand the colour is pretty rare for an S3, I was originally looking for an Avus one, but there were simply none available. Some people will probably not be keen, but it looks much better in the flesh.

Comments and criticisms welcome.

Cheers

Chris

Very nice mate, I like the colour... sounds like you got a very good deal from the stealers...see you've got the same wing morrors as myself :)

One bit of advice though, i noticed you have your air freshener hanging from your indicator stick, i had the same thing and over a period of time the magic tree will react to the plastic round your steering coloum causing it to peal and go bitty, it happened on mine, about the size of a 1p coin, not impressed...

Let me be the second to say....Looking good. Unusual clour, but yeh I think I like it.
Clean shiny car, Alloys, chrome mirrors and matching coloured interior. I know the 2 tone coloured intereior seems popular here, but I (and I mean personally) prefer the all black leather.

Another S3 I saw some time ago was a fairly dark green one and that too looked really good. If you had said it was a light blue colour I would have not thought much of it, but actually looking at the whole car - as I said, looking good.

I see you're not giving away how much you paid for it, but certainly a 20% discount on window price is good together with the extra work !

mileage ?

Congratz on the car mate. Must great looking S3...Kingfisher blue is a nice colour there an A3 in that colour around by me. Looks like you got yourself a very tidy and clean S3. Also sounds like you got a great dealer with your local dealer.
Enjoy the car

Cheers for the comments so far, glad the colour is liked. I will def bin the magic tree, it's been in their ages, I only put in on the stalk a couple of weeks ago as it was bugging me on the rear view mirror, cheers for the warning!!

I don't mind disclosing what I paid, it was £7750, including all of the work and 1 yr's Audi warranty, which covers the cats on the exhaust as well. Car was up at £10K, when I first looked at it, the dealer said when it originally came in it was up for nearer £11k which was just stupid money, the car had done approx 63k miles when I got it.

Cheers

good deal and nice car.
ditch the mats and get audi ones.

Thats a bargain, I really like the colour too...looks great.

totally agree with vorhees - the car looks ace, but the mats are just a bit industrial for a fine looking motor

Cheers for the comments so far, yeah I def agree on the mats, they are crap and are on the list of things to be sotred, just waiting for a cheap set to come up on ebay. The rubber ones are actually genuine Audi and came with the car.

Cheers

Nice car mate, im sure someone else on this site was interested in this exact car, but didnt want to pay the £11k asking price (unless that was you) ;)

Glad you got a good deal, looks perfect, seats really go with the colour of the car as well.

very nice mate, but we all know blacks the fastest color, lol

looks very nice there mate.sounds like you got a good deal. How does the milteck non-res sound? is it boomy? i do alot of motorwat miles so when i do need to change and upgrade just wondering how it'l be.

Yeah it was me there was another thread about it, the dealer was asking silly money originally, they had the car off sale and 'SOLD' for weeks and weeks to someone else, the guy was just messing them around as he was struggling to get finance arranged, so I made them a cash offer and did the deal. I think it helped that it was about 2 days before their end of month and they wanted the sale:) Looking at the paperwork, the dealer took the vehicle in p/x in early January and I got it at the begining of April, so I'm guessing they just wanted it gone.

One word.

"Stunning"!

Love rare things and love this car because of that. It's a stunning underestimated colour which really shows off the S3. Different to your average blue by a mile, just wish mine was as rare as yours! :)

Get it detailed, or do it yourself as it's not hard to get a professional job done, if you have a good eye that is and get the right tools for the job. With a car like that i guess/assume you do have a good eye!

One thing though...those mirrors? They plastic? They look matt finished, they OE Audi?

G

Yea i noticed that but thought that i'd post it cause the OP said about Avus blue! :p

Cheers again for all the positive comments:) To answer a few questions:

The exhaust is not as bad as I thought, it doesn't really sound boomy at all to me, at normal speeds and revs it's fine you notice a slight difference, but when you give it some it sounds fantastic. The car also feels less restricted and choked as it did with the standard system, it you were concerned you could always go for resonated version??

Yeah they are plastic and genuine OE Audi, they were on the car when I purchased it and are matt silver, I personally think they look good, very similar finish to the new RS4 mirror's, would prefer alloy ones, but can't be bothered with the cost and theft risk!!

Cheers

See Jimmeh, others have rare S3's as well :nyah:

sorry to dig up an old post but when i got mine i was told that there were very few kingfisher blue S3's registered and was trying to find if this was right. i have seen some other audis a4/a3s in kingfisher blue but untill now no other s3's i think the colour was over £1000 extra new so this could be why!

im pleased you disclosed the price as i got mine just after you and paid a bit less for higher miles but it had all the optional extras fitted!

love the colour myself which sold it to me over other s3's about so travelled 500 mile round trip to look and have a test drive then the same again 2 weeks later with the cash! :)

Hi mate,

Yeah it is a rare colour for an S3, I know of mine, yours and one other one. The colour was indeed a £1000+ option, which is probably why there are so few around, it was not even my first choice! I really wanted an Avus silver one, but ended up giving up as this one was such a clean original car plus I got a great deal.

Chris

I bought mine standard as well and it only had 2 owners so had been looked after and was about top factory spec. I had been watching it for a while while my previous car sold and i had the cash to buy it. even people who just see it as a car and dont know about it comment on the colour!

im also a chris and guessing from your username born in '86 same as me!

Chris.

lovely colour that mate...same as our A3...i wanted this colour when i bought the S3 but there was only one in the country actively published for sale and the kid wanted a fortune for it....it had been up for well over a year

welcome to the forum ;)

not sure about full spec though, most owners think they have full spec until they get on here....list ya options matey and suprise us ;)

Tim

The options it has (that i know about are)

· Kingfisher blue paint, special order
· Electric sunroof
· Heated seats
· Cruise control
· Bose sound system
· 6 CD changer
· Concert CD player
· Multi function steering wheel
· Auto dipping rear view mirror
· Alloy wing mirrors
· Centre Armrest with flip out phone holder
· Luggage net
· Extra headrest + 3 point seatbelt
· Roof rack

I might be wrong but as far as i know only things missing are the 9 spoke alloys which im not fussed about (and could add on) and the RNS-D which was nearly £3k back in 2002. and im looking at retrofitting an RNS-E.

Let me know what else as im a newbie! :)

That's all, RNSD was 3k?

it think it was £2200 or something but with the tv tuner etc (which would be top spec) it was pushing the £3k mark, this is 8 years ago and sat nav wasnt as common back then either!

Anyway have you got rnsd and upgrading to rnse?

no dont have any nav and looking at costs to fit it it will stay that way!

yup the RSTT wheels came with lowered suspension too IIRC.... your correct about the stereo, they could also have gone for the symphony 2 upgrade. Other than that, it looks about the lot to me.....

:)

Tim

Cool thats what i thought, i deliberatley waited for one with all of the right bits as i would have only wanted them after and if/when i come to sell it it should hold its value better.

RSTT and lowered would look good but i might be getting coilies soon anyway. (so much for buy a quick car so you dont need to mod it and can save instead!!!)

now thats a good question how would i know????

you will have two little holes in the console above your head..... the console with ya map reading lights....theres two red LED's that will shine onto your dash and gear knob when your lights are on...if you havent got it, simple £15 fit for parts ;)
