Long story short good peoples, I nearly needed CPR this morning when I opened and read a garage bill....

Was doing the lower arm bushes on the S3. Did the NS one fine, hit out, new bush in, everyone happy. OS one however was a bit of a pain. We hit and hit, and pressed an pressed but it wouldn't come out. So I leave the S3 on an axle stand for the night and get a hand held blowtorch next day. Heat it up, out it popped - with some persuasion.

Anyway, started to press the new bush in on my big bench vice and (stupidly) didn't clean the inner of the arm out of rust and crud, as was in a rush. Ended up ripping the bush to shreds. ******.

Stole the lower arm off the other S3 (despite the fact it was having it's MOT 2 days after). Due to this, I took the arm down to my local garage for them to get a bush and press it in since I wouldn't have time. I cleaned the arm up, honed out the bush housing so it was spot on.

Went and picked the arm up that night. All lovely.

Until today when I got the bill.

Bush = £3.40.

Labour = 40 Mins and £47.99 an hour.

40 ****** MINUTES? To press a bush into an arm. I did it in 5 mins using a bench vice with the other one.

I'm going to go down there and unleash the fury later on - I personally think that is an utter joke.

Dodgy Dursley garages m8...!!!!

These hoses are gathering dust now..>!!!

You just brought a dead S3 back to life, why would this be a garage job for you?

40mins? 35 of them making a cup of tea

sounds like a daft time

should of brought it down to me mate..

Depends on what type of garage it is, but is there some kind of minimum charge ? What would a main dealer charge ?

Under normal circumstances I would of mate, I must admit - BUT - I had to drop it off there in the morning and then fit it by the evening to drive the car for MOT next day!

The time starts from when the keys are picked up from the service counter...And obviously included lunch break!

Keys? I took the arm down to them, they didn't have to do anything at all to it - expect press a bush in!
