Sat Nav can it be added?

Just Bought the ex demostrator from newcastle audi after 4 years of not owning a A4 happy to have another one (****** expensive though), i believe its a B8 chassis- is a A4 Avant 2010 S-line Executive 143 not sure what extras it has apart from the tints.

but can sat nav be retro fitted?? or anything else onto that screen

It is possible but the parts list is endless, your converting the cars infotainment from CAN (Wires) to fibre-optic, so your looking a can gateway, nav, mmi control head, MMI controls, screen, Bluetooth, CD-Changer/AMI wiring harness fibre optic cables, etc etc etc... Just not worth (Not unless you can get everything very cheep from a scrapped car).

Learn something new everyday huh, I was under the impression the nav was a standard feature with the center screen as standard, obviously not huh, so yeah fair bit to update that I'd say, have to hunt down parts on the bay but this stuff even on the bay wont be cheap huh.

You can always add it but it won't be cheap. As said if you have SatNav then the car uses a fibre optic ring for the media components. If you don't then it's copper. This means adding one is would cost a lot. I reckon you'd be looking at £3-4k.

p.s. Let me know when your car was produced and I'm sure I'll have the pdf brochure so you can work out what the extras are. So far I think it's just the tints and Comfort Pack (which include the leccy seats).

Don't know of any DVD players that would display on that screen, as far as I know you would have to upgrade to MMI.

I have a new 1.8T s-line exec 160 avant loan car at the moment and despite having the screen there is no nav and just a glance at the set up says forget it unless you want to rebuild half the car..Its a bit like the new BM's where you would need to replace the dash and i dont think its coincidence that manufacturers are trying to stop this after market update. I hear that ECU updates will be near imposable soon as well.

Ahh the B6 was a easy upgrade, never mind Sat Nav with free view it is.

I have B8 S-line exec the exec pack is as below

alcantara/leather
cruise con
symphony stereo 6disc changer
mobile phone prep low

I also had parking sensors and AMI extras on the car,mine to was a ex demo from Newcastle Audi although i had them bring it to Teesside Audi for me to purchase and got a cracking deal well happy with it.

Also I see you have a thread on bootliners i bought mine from TOWEQUIPE but to be honest Audi have them at the same price think they are £40

Trade in the RS4 and I have just bought a 2010 A4 2.0 TDI S Line Special Edition. 3 days ago and loving it.
Mine has the High Tech pack fitted
which includes Sat Nav, HDD MMI 3rd Gen, DVD included and twin SD slots
40gb hard drive, 10 you can save your own music on.
Ipod/iphone AMI
Bluetooth Prep, SDS Voice activation.
19'' RS4 7 x twin spoke alloys
front and back parking sensors

not sure about the retrofitting the sat nav, think it would be very expensive.

Sat Nav on the HDD system is uploaded by Audi
there is still the DVD system available but it doesnt have 3rd gen Sat Nav

The 3G Nav with get an update in June but that's software to stop the stupid turn left message etc on roundabouts. Maps I dunno.

Speed cameras : that and pull post code search and the two things we all want that there's no news on.

Thanks for that.Pretty pointless to spend that extra cash on a system that cant update regularly like a tom tom then.Old maps and no speed cameras?wtf.Spend a fifth of the cost on a remap instead!
